What's Up NT,

I brought up this question on my podcast.

Would you rock the Levi boot over Timbs?

Levi $90 or less. Timbs $190

At what point does brand loyalty or consumerism become stupidity?

Technically Levis is a name brand. Would you cop proudly?

Lol betty crocker is a name brand but she aint makin lumpia

Stay in your lane

Ide get the Levis. The social and marketing brainwashing has worn off on me at this point. I no longer feel compelled to pay extra for a name. And its not like Levis is a wrinky dink company anyways. I understand Timberland made their name off of their boots but them joints aint made of titanium. Its still clothing at the end of the day. And I dont need the social acceptance, I do me.

Ive seen those levis boots b4.

There is most definitely a quality difference between those and timberlands so that IS a factor in this example

Thank you! I need to get to this point, myself.

It definitely is a factor. I haven't closely examined them. I will next time i see them.

So what about your kids? I just had a son last month. I'd have no problem buying him these, knowing he will outgrow them quickly or mess them up. Thoughts?

Not gonna lie saw the limbs at marshalls from a distance and i thpught they were timbs and it said 49.99 i was like whaaaaaaat.

Walked up and on closer inspection was trash

There is a lot to this i feel like. I have owned 4 pairs of timbs through my life. Age 15 to 29. They all have lasted a long time and never let me down. So i am some what brand loyal when it comes to timbs due to experience.
Branding goes a long way and so does customer loyalty and experience with a product. Why pay extra for a Honda when the Kia is the same thing? Because of the Honda Reputation.

Some things may come down to vanity but others may come down to quality. Then you get in to quality vs price vs income level. A leather Calvin Klein wallet at Marshalls is $20 but a leather LV wallet is $800. Now to some one that makes $500k a year....that price difference is worth it in terms of quality or vanity to them. To others...its not.

So to answer your question, brand loyalty/consumerism becomes stupidity when you are not making enough money and have other priorities that should be paramount (ie child support, kids college fund, retirement). If you priorities are in line and you can purchase these items without undo hardship on yourself or your family then you are not dumb.
