****The Everything LaVar Ball Thread****

Here's my thing.

Take Kobe and Kwame. Two guys highly sought after coming out of high school (well, Kobe had his brief stint at Duke, but that was minor). One became an all-time great. The other, the butt of jokes. What was different about them?

To me it was the drive and the intensity. Kobe had a chip on his shoulder and he was going to be the greatest of all time or die trying. Kwame just wanted a blanket and warm milk.

I haven't seen that drive in Lonzo but it's hard to tell when he's being overshadowed by his daddy at interviews. It's hard to tell from his posture and his style of play.

I know he's immensely talented and has a gift. But coming into the league, everyone has a bit of that. What will make the difference is whether he find that passion for himself. I can tell you what prevents that from developing: overbearing parents. Lonzo has to find himself and has to do it for himself and not for his dad. That's what's going to determine whether he ends up a top-tier player or fades into oblivion.
WHAT THE HELL

I think they've won. Many media reports now call their family "basketball royalty". Nothing is officialy until just a year or two away from Senior year. So if you suck Li Melo, BYE BYE UCLA.

Many brothers have played college ball years apart. So many brothers and or sisters/siblings in general have been negated to NOTHING STATUS because of the Ball's perceived "sTATUS"". I think There is a Uconn womens and Stanford womens sibling that ae both in the final four

The Ball's are affecting millions of households because of their attitude.

But lets get a REALITY SHOW? TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY. The BALLS ARE JUNK MEDIA SCRUBS!

Let that hate out your heart man. Let it out!

Nah I knew alot of negros rooting for fox to give that boy a lesson. Hell i was  when it happened. Wish fultz went to a diff school so it could've been him.
Think Lonzo would have as many people against him if he wasn't light skinned? [emoji]129300[/emoji]

Well, let me say, would as many people go AT him (and think he is a sucka (Think Blake and Steph)), if he wasn't light skinned?

Yes. What his dad is doing is unprecedented at this level and it's rubbing a lot of people the wrong way especially considering that LaVar gives off Trump vibes. I think it's also important to note that before all of these media stunts, many people around the country, including some of those in this thread, didn't know about Lonzo and folks have openly stated that they are rooting against him because of his father.

But it's because he's light skinned, though

Trump vibes?

Boys in here wilding.

I can totally understand not agreeing with dudes approach, but damn it's some flat out hate in here, some of it even being directed at a 19yr old kid.

He jumped the shark the first time he talked to media. I blame espn2 and fs1 for the garbage they call sports media. He's like their dream guest. Oh he says crazy things, we need to have him on our shows every 3-4 days.

There are several hundred thousand, perhaps millions, of people in this country that do that to Lebron James.

It ain't cuz he's light skinned

Because he's light skin [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

This x 100

DC's wildin

People are just going off his demeanor, nothing more. The hate also stems from his helicopter pops, not the fact that he's light skin. Haven't heard anyone hate on specifically Lonzo himself yet tbh,he seems pretty grounded and lets his actions talk for him

He's entertaining as hell to me. I watched him and Stephen A on Monday and I hate Stephen A.

He doesn't take the stuff he says that seriously, so I don't think the public should either.

I look at him like I would Don King or Floyd Mayweather promoting a fight.

Bruh, he is making flat out ridiculous statements that have no merit (switching Steph with Lonzo and UCLA being worse, beating MJ 1-on-1, etc etc). If you don't see the similarities, maybe you didn't keep up with politics over the past year.

I didn't even want to mention LeBron but exactly. Same with all the people that hated on Kobe and called him a rapist.

“Man, we were supposed to go to Sacramento, but that coach is hard-headed,” Ball said. “He wanted to do things his way. If we would have gotten along, we would have been in the state title easy. But he’s trying to have a little resistance towards me. And I’m like, ‘Man, try and do it your way. That’s why you lost three games.’

“Because once he run and just play and when my son really wants to play for you, we’re gonna do good. But when you have any kind of resistance towards me, and you the head coach, it don’t work out that good. I already knew he was going to lose that game.”
No doubt that he's entertaining but that doesn't give him a pass for this.

Lavar Ball is a straight up herb...this article is well-worth the read:

Chino Hills (Calif.) boys basketball head coach Stephan Gilling hasn’t forgotten the deep voice shouting in the second half from the stands at a quarter-full Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. He knew exactly who was yelling. It was LaVar Ball, the father of Chino Hills’ LiAngelo, LaMelo and UCLA star Lonzo.

“Double team! Double team!”

The first-year head coach had won his first nine games of the season, but after a pair of close wins at the mid-December Tarkanian Classic, the Huskies faced another test against Roosevelt (Calif.) High. They went into the locker room at half trailing by 12. Chino Hills had been double teaming Roosevelt’s shooters for the first half, but Gilling needed to make an adjustment.

“I go into the locker room, and I tell the guys to stop double teaming – just stay with your man,” Gilling said. “You do that, we’ll definitely get stops and come back and win.”

Yet, there was that voice again in the second half: “Double team! Double team!”

When Ball would shout for the double-team, Chino Hills players reluctantly followed his instruction. Gilling would yell, “Stop trapping!” (The exchange was captured in the video below).

Didn't watch the vid, but his antics won't influence Lonzo's draft stock one bit. I get that they need to fill air-time in late march with these topics, but let's be real here

You're really comparing a dude being overconfident in his and his sons basketball ability to what Trump has done/is doing?

And you don't realize how ridiculous that sounds?

Get at me when Lavar starts shouting out blanket racist statements, starts demeaning women and the handicap etc

Like I said I get not agreeing with his approach but damn pump the brakes dudes gonna be comparing him to hitler next
