Hyundai's are great! Bought a 09 Genesis when they first came out. I was the first person to buy one in full. Second, Paul Allen. $53k out the door. I was young and dumb to do that but the reaction I got from people wherever I went was priceless lol
i beg your pardon?

Shop around. Be patient until you find something you like.

I had a 5k budget and I wanted something reliable I wouldn't have to worry about. Some time passed between me starting looking (and telling everyone I came in contact with what I was trying to buy a good reliable car under 5k) and finding my car. It's a '99 Toyota Solara. I bought it when it had 56k miles on it and it cost me 4k. Paid for it in cash. Now it's mine and I put some new tires/brakesfluids in it and It drives great. It was my first car. Best purchase of my life.

They were probably thinking this fool is the first human on earth to drop 50 stacks on a Hyundai

Y'all think the Genesis is expensive, the Hyundai Equus starts at 61.

In my defense, imagine being 22 from the hood and not ever really having anything growing up and then being given $268k. Of course I look back and see I goofed but it's all part of growing up.

Also, it's not like I bought a Cadillac or Hemi or whatever other stereotype vehicles lol. The Genesis was getting crazy reviews. It was said to be the best car in decades, the second coming of the LS400. Everything in a fully loaded BMW 5-Series but almost the size of the BMW 7-Series, including the Rolls Royce Phantom sound system. Plucked the Hyundai emblem off and slapped the Korean Genesis emblem and everyone thought it was the new Bentley lol. My fam Brandon Roy and Nate Robinson would whip it after hoop sessions lol. Good times haha.

Yeah, I dropped $53k out the door on a Hyundai but no different than dropping money on a LS460 (Toyota).

Oh, and that Equus is CRAZY! Test drive it when they first came out. $75k for what would be $100k+ in a 7-series or S-class.

I was just giving u **** bro, kudos for going out the ordinary and getting something that you actually wanted.

You from seattle fam?

I'm not mad. I got the fully loaded Kia Optima Hybrid Ex for like 37.5. Hindsight I kind of goofed, actually super. If you dropped cash on it I'm sure you don't mind resale value on Hyundai/Kia being worst in the industry.

And yea like you said it looks like a Bentley or something when it pull up

Man... I was pissed when I seen the value drop! But again, I was young. Love the warranty tho and thing that was dope was the extended warranty was an extra $4k but it was transferable and you could cash it in. When I returned it I got like $3300 back

I had a Honda in high school that lasted for years. The only problem was that the back door became stuck and wouldn't open at all.

Look for a Town Car, they will go forever. Finally retired mine after almost 500,000 miles... they are in that price range too. Maintenence and parts are cheap, because they use almost all the same parts as a Crown Victoria, and we all know how many of those they made. Or if you want something even cheaper just cop a Crown Victoria LX. I needed a temporary car bought one for $800.00, the thing still cranks up everytime... never did anything but change the oil and put tires on it. There is a reason cops and livery companies used them, they are tanks and will run for ever with little upkeep. Gas mileage is not nearly as bad as you think either. I'm actually looking for a newer Town Car to Uber with, tired of all the wear and tear on my GLK. An older 300 or Charger are not bad either just STAY AWAY! from the 2.7L engines they sludge up. Go for the 3.5L.

Anything under 5K is definitely gonna be a "beater" car. I would definitely go with Toyota. Just have about a grand in your bank account to have stashed away for repairs.
