you hating him as a commentator isn't gonna erase the fact that duke was NBA's 50's greatest player's of all time.

Barkley played the power forward position buton some occasions he would play the small forward and center positions. He was known for his unusual build as a basketballplayer, stockier than most small forwards, yet shorter than most power forwardshe faced. Barkley however was still capable of outplaying both taller opponents and quicker opponents.[sup][1][/sup] He was probably the only power forward that was capable of leading a fast break and was a powerful leaper (a 39-inch vertical leap in his 20s) despite his heavyweight.

He was a prolific scorer who averaged 22.1 points-per-game for his season career and 23.0 points-per-game for hisplay-off career,[sup][10][/sup]. Barkley was one of the NBA's most versatile players and accurate scorers capable of scoring from anywhere onthe court and established himself as one of the NBA's premier clutchplayers[sup][1][/sup]. During his NBA career, Barkley was a constant mismatch because he possessed a set of very uncommon skills. Barkleyhad the skills of a shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. He would use all facets of his game in a single play. As a scorer, he had the ability to score from the perimeter and the post (he is famous for hisunstoppable spin moves and fadeways) or he could finish a fast break with a powerful dunk. He is one of the most efficient scorers of All-Time, scoring at54.13% total field goal percentage for his season career and51.34% total field goal shooting for his play-off career(including a career season high of 60% during the 1989-90 NBA season).[sup][10][/sup].
Frequently listed as 6 feet 6 inches, but measuring slightly under 6 feet 5 inches (1.95 mt)[sup][42][/sup][sup][43][/sup], Barkleyis the shortest player in NBA history to lead the league in rebounding when he averaged a career high 14.6 rebounds per game during the 1986-87 season.[4

[h1]1984 NBA Draft[/h1][h3]From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/h3]
Jump to: navigation, search

The 1984 NBA Draft saw the selection of four players who would be named among the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History at theleague's 50th anniversary in 1996: Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and John Stockton. These four playersaccumulated seven MVP awards, 23 All-NBA FirstTeam appearances and 45 NBA All-Star Game selections. Barkley andOlajuwon are currently in the Basketball Hall of Fame, andJordan and Stockton are eligible in 2009.

Many other solid players were drafted in 1984, including Otis Thorpe, Kevin Willis, Michael Cage, Sam Perkins and Alvin Robertson. Also of note is the Chicago Bulls' selection of track and field star Carl Lewis with the 208th pick overall. Lewis would stay with track and never playedbasketball for the Bulls. The Portland Trail Blazers draftedMike Whitmarsh, who starred for the University of San Diego in both basketball and volleyball, in the fifth round. Whitmarsh played professionally in Germany for three years, but never made the NBA, and went on to much greater success in beachvolleyball.

Thorpe was the last remaining Kansas City Kings player on an NBA roster(2000-01 Charlotte Hornets) and Willis signed to the Dallas Mavericks for the 2006-2007 season.

This was also the final NBA Draft held before the birth of the NBA DraftLottery in 1985.

Names in bold had been selected into All-NBA Team. Names with asterisk had beeninducted into Hall of Fame.

barkley was drafted the same year as michael jordan, and for the record Barkley ended his career as one of only four playersin NBA history to compile 20,000-plus points, 10,000-plus rebounds and 4,000-plus assists.

  • All-NBA Third Team: 1996
  • 11-time NBA All-Star
  • All-Star Game MVP (1991)
  • All-Star Game MVP (1991)
  • One of four players in NBA history to attain 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists
  • One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History: 1996
  • Olympic gold medalist: 1992, 1996
barkley was the real deal B....don't be mad his kicks was stylin on jordan in 94'
laugh.gif

Them olympic medals ,are due to Mj mainly and outside of CB's rebounds ,those gold medals were his top career highlights ,,Im not mad that Jordan took offfor a year or so and barkley could finally step out from behind mj's shadow , you show me some stats saying CB's sold more shoes in any year thanJordan sold , its unlikely you can do that ..

I respect your knowledge and persistance though.......

i betcha any of our insiders would set you straight in a second.

1994, the air max 2 cb was nike's FLAGSHIP SHOE...that shoe was the pinnacle of Nike's technology, i have no doubt in my mind that this barkley movedmore units then the IX or the X's

NO ONE liked the IX's or X's when they dropped...they was considered weak versus the previous jordan models..hell even today people can tell you thatafter the VI's there was a decline

the line until the black and red XI's dropped..because people weren't warming up to the concords at first.

Wow dude seriously, If you think Charles Barkley was just a soso player, you dont know nothing. Charles Barkley was only 6'6, same height as Michael Jordanand my man was playing as an undersized PowerForward. MJ was a SG at 6'6. Charles Barkley may not be the best to ever play the game since that is MJs titlebut in my opinion it belongs to the real MJ(Magic Johnson) hahaha Laker fan here:}. Any way, I think Barkleys shoes are ill but it cant match MJs line in myopinion. http://www.nba.com/histor...ers/barkley_summary.html There have only been 4players to have 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists. These other guys are LEGENDS to the game of Basketball. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, WiltChamberlain, Karl Malone and Charles Barkley all had 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists. Did I mention my man Charles Barkley was only 6'6,an undersized PowerForward. Plus what other NBA lEgend do you know gets pulled over by cops and arrested while hes trying to get a BlowJob from A !@!#!*hahahah. Thats my man SIR CHARLES.. I still love Michael Jordan More but im just teaching some noobs some real facts.

Don't get me wrong Penny's and Bakley's were dope, but those dude's weren't winning chapionship's like Mike was. Straight hater's!

ANY gradient air max 95 >> X's IX's

period.

there's no way you can retro the IX's and X's as many times as the air max 95 in neon and STILL be a sell out shoe the way they are now. thosekicks just have huge crossover appeal.

air-max-95-neon.jpg

the IX's are mediocre and the X's other then the chi's and the steels are just bleh.....

1. im getting all my "fact" from the NBA databases and archives, Barkley was DEFINITELY as good as a player as we're telling you hewas..you're obviously

too young to remember any of it..or ignorant.

2. air max 95's in neon >>>>>>> IX, X and its not even close those have been classics since they debuted in 1995, they were so indemand they had to be

retroed 2 years later in 1997 and bi annually ever since.

everyone in this forum will tell you that

and here's jordan paying homage to charles barkley...respect gives respect.

there will only be only be ONE Charles Barkley

I know what your talking about but please never say you hated Mike thats like saying you hate Basketball

alot of people hated mike in the 90's.....cuz he was killin everybody's team
laugh.gif

you're talkin to a guy who had DIEHARD knick fans as friends, i loved penny hardaway, and barkley was my DUDE.

i had the black Xs but no IXs. honestly around here a lot of people were still rocking the jays. most poeple i knew had jays as well as barkleys. no salerack deals that i remember at all. then again, i would cop on release day and not go back to the mall until i heard something else was about to drop.

This is the first time I heard Barkley listed as "above-average"
roll.gif
. He's one of the best PF of all-time. If it wasn't for him, Phoenix would not have stood a chance against the Bulls in the Finals.

no. i don't know where u're from, but jays never almost died here in the dmv (well, not til now at least).

i had steel 10s whte/black 9s (late '93-early '94)
i was in 9th grade and u were still shutting everything else down if u had the new jays or polo boots.

I'm glad that Untiitled and The J Collector had this disagreement, cause I learned more about Barkley than I ever knew. But I must add that I've neverin my entire 26 years heard Barkley be called "Average" by anyone other than The J Collector.

thats what happens when u got blind loyality to jordan....you forgot homie was surrounded by hall of fame players all over the league.

the rule of thumb is there's usually a reason nike would give you a signature shoe.

Barkley a so so player? Get the %#+$ outta here...you either are a) a kid and didn't really watch him play, b) a hate...the man was a beast simple andplain...one of the top 50 to ever do it...end of story....I remember jays were 30 cash in marshalls back then
laugh.gif
those were the days tho

whats the point of this thread?...... it seems that your trying to force ppl to agree with you... this thread went down hill from the start.

JORDANS WERE ON EVERYONES LIST.... i dont remember ppl rocking barkleys... his jerseys yes...

IF YOU WERE BORN IN THE EARLY/MID 80's.....

THE ONLY THING THAT WAS RUNNING THROUGH YOUR HEAD DURING THE MID 90s WAS :
JORDAN, SAVED BY THE BELL, SUPER NINTENDO ( and wondering why the heck Jordan was never listed in the games!!!!
mad.gif
), 2PAC dead, AND THE BEGINNING OF KOBE.

( well.... thats me and like my whole gang of friends lol )

later-

Does anybody remember the commerical with jordan and barkely buy an pool talking about whose sneakers looked better?

naw man.... half way there but not really

how i see it is, the NBA coverage was horrible back then. How you played determined the type of person you were because thats the onlytime you will catch THAT player on TV and B/C there was no ESPN 24/7, some ppl didnt have cable, Internet was not on that as much, so Barkley was consideredDIRTY... Elbows right to left is what i saw every game when i watched him. and no... i was not a kid.

READ THIS PPL... NO WAY YOU WILL DISAGREE.

Dude barkley was a manchild, only reason he aint get a chip was cuz his team wasn't as deep as

The bulls.
