it happens in every sport though. guys aren't as good as we thought they'd be.
i don't follow baseball like that but do people want the Royals gone? were they asking for the pirates to be gone prior to last season?
I mean true, but I feel as though that our culture could help minimize the amount of overhyped players by making them prove themselves on a professional level before entering the NBA.
An ideal situation for me would be to allow players to make the jump from high school to the pros, but for teams to use their own judgement on whether or not to send that player to the D League. That way, we can get a better look at how this player looks consistently against pro level talent. I also feel that in general, the NBA should do a much better job of embracing the D League and putting it to use. I wouldn't want it to rival the NBA, but it would benefit a lot of teams if the d league was more publicized, on a wider scale, and overall just was presented as the NBA's little brother that it cared for, not just some adopted little brother that is forgotten most of the time.
By embracing the D league more, it would improve its reputation and take away it's stigma to a degree, making it easier to send younger players straight to the d league (whether they are coming from HS or college) whom teams feel are not presently ready to contribute at an NBA level.
The way I see it there simply isn't that many good enough ball players (in the world and eligible) to make half the teams more competitive. So even if the scouts were better it wouldn't make that much of a differenceThe issue with the league IMO is not the amount of teams. It's the lack of great scouting and the over dependency of our basketball culture on overhyped "prodigies", which goes back beyond the NBA, and beyond college..
I wouldn't be mad at something like this. Similar to English Soccer, the last two teams in east and west are relegated to only D league and then top teams and D league are promoted. Obviously this would be hard to workout because each pro team has a development team in a completely different city ... but I'm just saying I like that idea.
last place team every year is forced to relocate/sell the team
easy fix to tanking

Yeah, and you can die watching those games while players play most of the games worried about batteries and screwdrivers bein thrown at them.
Let's incorporate some of that.
