The hilarious thing about this whole season is when people say Kobe is the reason we are so bad. Because of his contract.

As if he was $15mil like it would have changed anything. They had $30mil in cap space, and when Bron or Melo wasn't going to happen... They could have went after IT2, Lance & kept Pau... Would definitely get IT2 & Lance. Hell IT2 said he was dreaming about playing in LA today. That would be a 35 win team.

Yet they re-sign Swaggy P, Jordan Hill.. Trade for Lin to get that first. Claim Boozer.

Why? Because the FRONT OFFICE did not want to win. They wanted to keep the pick.

Don't forget monroe/bledsoe offer sheets.

Booz is what he is...an amnestied 3.5M backup PF.

Starting lineup when it's all said and done....should be.

Lin/kobe/swaggy/davis/hill...period.

Boozer was to sell to the fans that this team is gona compete

Yup.

This game aside. At $3.5mil, it's good value. But still

We didn't go after one of the 2nd tier guys. When we could have afford 3  How much more obvious did it need to be?

You're giving them way too much credit. Doubt this is part of some masterplan, it's just continuing the mismanagement that has plagued us since 2011.

 Come on man.....

They had $30mil in cap space.

Did not spend it on any Second Tier Free Agent.

Did not even make an offer.

Did not even express interest in most cases.

They made moves for names like Lin & Boozer because they would appear that we are in win now because they are names. But they didn't take us any closer to the playoffs. Hell we probably don't trade for Lin if we didn't get that 1st & 2nd.

It's clear what the plan was. We either get a Superstar and make the playoffs. Or we just pass the money another year, while making moves that don't move the needle but to the casual fan look like moves to win.

Yet the same thing is going to happen again this summer more than likely. Swing and miss on the big names and try to keep buying time until somebody hopefully bites. Rinse, repeat for 2016 summer as well until Russ comes to save us in the summer of 17.

It won't be here's why.

Look at the contracts that are currently on the books for 2016-17 ($12million worth, Randle/Kelly/Swaggy/Clarkson). They can afford to spend $20mil on two 2nd Tier Guys or a max player in 2015. And still afford 2 max guys in 2016.

Except we'll have a second lottery player... Hopefully.

We won't be exactly treading water until someone big bites.

Why would they then? Why not just suck again and keep our top 3 pick from ORL?

The soft-rebuild all started with Randle. I'm sure we wont strike out for a FA again like we did this past free agency. This is how it seems it's gonna be after this season.

1. Kobe

2. Nick

3. Free agency pickup

4. Randle

5. Clarkson

6. Draft Pick (Hopefully we can keep it)

7. Draft Pick (Houston)

The rest are scrubs or leaving soon.

Because it will negatively impact Randle and next 1st.

also could have everything in place in 2nd year of 4 year contracts of 2nd tier guys as opposed to 3rd year of IT2 and Lance of 3 year deals and then you lose them and have more trouble to reassemble what they are for what they were paid before new tv deal kicks in
