Nationals OF Bryce Harper struck out three times against Matt Harvey on Thursday.

“He’s a huge challenge,” Harvey said after the game. “A couple of times he came up, there were runners on base. So that makes it even more important that you concentrate on what you have to do.”

Harper is now hitless in 10 career at bats against Harvey.

“He’s one of the toughest at-bats I’ve ever had,” Harper said.

Pedro Martinez talked with MLB Network Radio on Friday and praised Harvey’s focus and balance on the mound, regardless of who is in the box, where he’s pitching or the significance of the game.

“He is very, very aware of his surroundings and his mechanics,” Martinez said. “I hope he continues to study what he has to study to keep his body in balance. I pray to God we have the opportunity to keep watching him because you just don’t see talent like his every day.”

Bud Norris, who's been struggling this spring vs. Mark Buehrle, who hasn't, kicks off the day.

My guy Harvey was dirty yesterday. His control for the most part improved with each inning.

Only 3 hits on balls in the strike zone.

So filthy

Thank you Minaya. Think about it. We almost drafted catcher Yasmani Grandal. I remember many Mets fans were unhappy when we picked Harvey over Grandal. We wanted a young promising catcher like Mauer, Buster and Wieters. Humber, Mulvey, Kunz and Pelfrey were the probably reason why we didn't want to draft Harvey or any pitcher in the first round.

Jewbacca listened to the april 8th of that Fangraph's podcast, good stuff so far. Had me dying with the salary topic and how shady the Mets were

I was so happy when we drafted Harvey. Best thing we've done in years. Omar had a good eye for talent, he just sucked at handing out contracts.

I wrote this brief little article about Harvey on my Tumblr. Giving baseball/analytics writing more of a chance instead of focusing only on the NBA.

Just bought some tix to Cubs-Padres next month! Hopefully Kris Bryant is on the squad by the time they come to San Diego.
