Is there a way to (for next year) gets deduction for traveling 40 minutes to an internship for school? It's a graduation requirement
No because it's a job and traveling to and from a primary job is nondeductible. It's why there is a federal program where you employer can allow you to deduct money for parking and train/bus travel from your paycheck pre-taxes. Yes it sucks but it's quite logical why that's the case.
It's not a primary job. I have a full time job.
Only way it would be deductible is if you were to say drive to job 1 then to internship then back home in one day. The distance from job 1 to internship the miles are deductible. And if the distance from the internship back him is more than job 1 to home then that difference is deductible.
If you are going to job 1 say mon-wed. And then internship Thur-sat then you can't do anything because on each day that is your particular job.
