ACL Knee Surgery

Tore both my ACL's.

I got the same story for my left knee. Tore my ACL in 2010, opt not to have surgery. Few months later, tore my meniscus. Went in for surgery.

For my right, I tore it last year. Surgery in November 2012. Currently doing work in physical therapy.

chill with the painkillers, the pain is bad but manageable

woooooooorrrrrd!!! DOn't mess around with that morphine son. I assume you have oxycontin. I wouldn't suggest taking any unless you were in tears type pain. It's heroin dude

Doesn't even matter what kind of painkiller you use, if it's classified as an opiate be careful with it.

I used a ton of Tramadol during my surgery recovery (~1,5 months) because the pain was too much and it didn't end so well for me.

Still find it incredibly hard not to touch those pills and that surgery was like 2 years ago.

I've never done drugs/smoked/drank alcohol so I'm kinda getting an understanding why people get addicted. I'm only using them when necessary and trying to get through on ibuprofen and then just do the big medication at night. Thanks for all the advice.

I think I have a torn ACL. It's healed on it's own but I gotta go get it check out. Left knee.
Lmao

an ACL doesn't repair itself..have you ever torn a piece of paper and seen it mend itself back together?

Anyways, it's the worst pain ever when it happens.

Best advice I can give is don't slack on your rehab.
You're going to have to put in major leg work to build you quads and hammys back up and strengthen it!

Good luck

Good luck man...I came out of surgery back in early december for damaged tendons in my right hand. It sucks so bad cas its a slow process and I'm nowhere near to 100% yet. I was just told I need to chill on my therapy cas I end up tallying 4-6 hrs a day. How much time are you guys investing in workouts?

My rule of thumb was that if you can endure it and do more...go for it. Apparently to much might be bad even if you can take it.

Post pics of your surgery, I know some patients request them.

I wish I would've requested them...this is all I got.

I was up in the clouds out of surgery man. I wanna see my knee but it'll be bandaged up til Monday.

Dude you looked like you was tripping off that Molly JK

But yea you wee up on the clouds

Not trying to turn this into a drug thread but Morphine > oxy or Vicodin never taken it tho but I heard morphine is the strongest pain killer

If any thing avoid all three like a guy said earlier it's addicting

I pray this never happens to me. I didn't realize this was as common as it is.

I play bball everyday. I am gonna chill on the dunks and high impact plays.

I too pray. Had a friend that tore his ACL last year. Took about 8 months for him to get back on the court. That's the reason I don't go hard in the paint anymore. How would I look tearing my joint playing pick up ball? Anywho, it's always good to see athletes return from these injuries.

Don't try to explode on rubber courts thats super bad for your knees...plus if you tear it just accept it. Shout out to Boobie Miles I kept hooping for 2 months and it probably set me back another four.

Could be a partial tear. Definitely get it checked out. I've always feared tearing knee ligaments.

Wish you the best OP. Just take a page out of AP's book when you're rehabbing.

My wife has a partially torn ACL. She goes to see the specialist in the next week or so. She's hoping for therapy as oppose to surgery.

Nah son, that **** don't heal itself. It will feel good for a while but there are times when your knee gives out periodically and you feel like you're gonna fall. It's random though. Get that checked out.

Yeah, i'ma do that.

Lmaooooooooopooooopp

I'm currently recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery. Be careful out there guise.

Tore my right bicep last August. Had surgery, out of commission for 6 months. Re-tore in March doing nothing. Dr. said no point in a 2nd surgery. Been working out since. Starting to get back to where I was pre-injury.

How is acl rehab going for you guys? I tore my acl and meniscus in july but I'm not scheduled for surgery till november. I haven't experienced any instability but I also stop playing sports and I only do occasional walking. Anyone with a similar experience?

In the 8th grade, I broke my tibia and fibula. I went up for a dunk and the guy slipped and undercut me. It killed all dreams of NBA for me roflmao.
But seriously it took two years before my confidence was back to step on a basketball court. Long story short push yourself through rehab it's well worth it.

I did two years on my college scout team before the wear & tear of D-1 basketball won over my body. I kid you not after rehab get on a good weight training and strengthening program.
It will help you as far as longevity goes, if you choose to play a sport.
