Come on man, what sense does that make. Why release a 500 pairs and tell 11 million people? If your notifications are on— you had a chance. You win some, you lose some.

whats the point of continuing to cater to those that have bots or are scraping the nike site? when others can get get the link faster than most thats not exactly giving people a chance. not saying theres a perfect way to release such limited shoes, but there are better ways than this.

Not trying to be argumentative, but what are some better ways?

You know what release system hasn't been compromised? Foot apps. And they have been around for almost 2 years now. The genius of the Foot apps is that they eliminate bot activity by tying entry eligibility to real world behavior (the whole VIP requirement).

Similarly, all Nike would have to do is: meg multiple entries from the same IP and meg any entries from any SNKRS accounts without a sufficient purchase history (for example, a SNKRS account can only purchase limited product if the account has $100 of purchases over the last 2 years). Problem solved. My guess is that the IT guys in these companies don't really want to solve the problem. The Nike IT guys probably make the best bots for SNKRS and have a nice side hustle being involved with the bot groups.
