UNLV Runnin Rebels coached by Jerry Tarkanian were doing it from 89-91

Don't use the word too much, but definitely most "swagged" team to step on the floor. This is the team that got me into college basketball. Should have went undefeated in 90-91. A part of me still think that gm versus Duke in the final four was fixed (Stacey Augmon sure hands were fumbling the ball, and a lot of other careless turnovers). Remember they were destroying teams that year heading into the Final Four game against Duke (team they destroyed a yr before).

Larry Johnson-overall beast during his days, won most of the major awards
Stacey Augmon-best lockdown defender in college, was an AA
Greg Anthony-solid pg, all conf. player ran the team smoothly
Anderson Hunt-won mvp of the 89-90 championship gm, should have stayed another yr, ended up undrafted
i want to say the other starter was David Butler?

Where do you think this team ranks as far as basketball teams in last 25 yrs? Are they ahead of the 96 Kentucky? b2b Florida, Duke teams?

George Ackles.

I was sick when they lost to Duke. I will admit the game did look "fixed"

Stacey Augmon was unreal at UNLV.

Loved watchin dude play.

But Larry was on another level. Nobody could see that man on the court. He was an animal.

They ran and ran and ran dudes out the gym back then. Fun team to watch.

I went to vegas over the summer and I walked into an applebees and saw all these SI covers / posters & pictures on the wall of the UNLV B-ball program.

to be honest I had no idea UNLV was ever any good.

what can I say, I'm young.

The Michigan "Fab Five" squads were great. They get the Penny Hardaway treatment on NT. They weren't better than the UNLV Runnin' Rebels orthe Florida Gators that won back to back titles.

!*#++ how %++#%!% old are you?

and the Fab 5 would whip the floor with that florida team

and who on NT hypes up the Fab 5?

for the teams mentioned in this thread

Vegas > 96 Kentucky > Fab Five >>> Florida

The 96' Kentucky team consistently looked more impressive against competition than the other teams mentioned

This as well.

But my brother tells me stories about how, when they beat the $+@! out of Duke, for some odd reason it made him like Duke and despise UNLV.

And because of my brother, i grew up watching Duke, thus making me a fan, so if not for this team, i might not be a Duke fan.

Probably be a Terrapin fan or something.
