Get outta here with that mess..

Assuming its a alpine type r which by the ratings it sounds like it is that sub will take 750rms..and dont buy a amp from best buy..the prices are ridiculous..i strongly advise to look on ebay if possible for a different amp.

thats a good price for a good amp, you'll get 750rms @ 2ohm outta the amp if not more. and you will have room to upgrade if you decide to add another type r.

for someone else ... dude speifically asked for an amp from bestbuy and sounds like a beginner ... easiest thing would be class d and matching brand to make hookup easier for him as manuals will probably be using alpine equipment ...

- exact thing i was thinking. and to the OP dont get caught up in the "the subs should handle BS". stick to the rated specs and everything should ****ay. once you start with the subs can handle this or that you have the potential to blow something.

ill go ahead and quote myself for you, and the type r's are KNOWN to handle up to 1000rms if you know what your doing, they take 6-700 withease.

You don't have to change anything. It was probably just tested at 14.4v
so i wud still get those ratings at 12.5??

Yeah your system should be good for a solid 1100, if not the full 1200, those amps are under rated.
