Commercials

It seems as if Nike and even the other shoe brands like Adidas etc don't invest as much effort into creating commercials. Back in the day when you would watch games you would always see Nike commercials featuring the "it" player of that time, but now I never do. 
Kobe hasn't had that many commercials with Nike and Brons hasn't either at least recently.

Marketing is at a high, IMO. Other means of marketing have come about.
Look at boxing. Slap some temporary tattoos of a Hotel on the back of a boxer, you got yourself an advertisement there.

Adidas does more commercials than any other shoe company. You got Messi commercials, D. Rose, Dwight, Fast don't lie commercials, and some other ones.

The most recent Kobe commercial with Kanye was entertaining. Pretty sure they paid a grip to get all those actors and Rodriguez to do that commercial
