It wasn't quite the sunset view the customers at Caddy's restaurant had in mind.

A young couple were arrested after allegedly having sex on the beach in Treasure Island, Florida, in front of 50 people - including children.

Erica Huerta, 21, and Steven Douglas, 22, were each charged with one count of lewd and lascivious exhibition after reportedly spending half-an-hour engaged in various sexual acts 100 feet from the restaurant.

Not exactly shy: Erica Huerta, 21, and Steven Douglas, 22, were arrested after allegedly having sex on a beach in Florida in front of 50 restaurant customers

According to police there were at least five children playing in the sand nearby.

The incident took place at around 7.30pm on Monday, and according to the affidavit both Huerta and Douglas had been drinking heavily.

Once they arrived on the beach, the couple spent almost 30 minutes kissing and fondling, in full view of customers at nearby Caddy's.

Then Douglas pulled his shirt over his head and allegedly started having sex with Huerta - at which point a bystander called police.
Unexpected view: The couple allegedly had sex just 100 feet from customers at Caddy's Bar and Restaurant in Treasure Island, Florida

The affidavit continued: 'This was within clear view of approximately 50 restaurant patrons and their children.

'Upon arrival of officers, there were at least five children playing on the beach within 50 feet of where the incident was occurring.'

Huerta, of Tallahassee, and Douglas, of Lutz, were both arrested and taken to Pinellas County jail.

Douglas was released the next afternoon after posting a $10,000 bond.

Huerta remains in custody in lieu of $2,500 bail.

The bail was set at $10,000 for the man, and $2,500 for the woman. I fail to see a reason for why the guy should have a bail 4x that of his partner for an act it took both of them to commit. Can someone please enlighten me on this? Is this a blatant act of discrimination in the law or am I missing something?

You don't know all of the facts. He could have a longer criminal record than her, for example.

If there really was kids on the beach while they were having sex he better hope he doesn't end up on the sex offender list.

He has priors as well, which include a DUI with drug possession (Mary Jane and prescriptions).

Seems that their records aren't so far out from each other.
