Car companies will be fine. They've paid most if not all of that money back if I remember correctly.
10 states stealing California’s population
September 24, 2012, 5:34 PM

A study released Monday finds that California, once the ultimate destination of millions of Americans dreaming of a better life, has been losing  millions of its citizens to other states over the past 20 years.

The report, by the Manhattan Institute,  found that California’s net outflow of population has topped 3.4 million over the past two decades.

And those people have taken billions of dollars in taxable income with them, only exacerbating California’s chronic budget woes.

California’s overall population does continue to grow, but only because of immigration from foreign countries and a relatively high birthrate.

The states seeing the biggest inflows from California are clustered in the South and Southwest and tend to have lower taxes, and more business friendly regulations, according to the report.  They are:

1. Texas
2. Nevada
3. Arizona
4. Oregon
5. Washington
6. Colorado
7. Idaho
8. Utah
9. Georgia
10. South Carolina

Ehh, IF we do file for BK, since ninjahood says the whole state is going to, we'll do so in great weather year round

I guess those Chrysler commercials didn't jump start their economy like they had everyone believing.

With no industry and no jobs what do people expect? Sad man. :smh:

what? they have industry and jobs. the big 3 are doing good, every other area is doing well in Michigan

Detroit is a dump, corrupt politicians running the city for years. what did you expect to happen?

Unions have been on the decline for decades and yet somehow, they still get blamed when the economy goes bad.

Michigan doesn't care about Detroit and people in Detroit don't care about Detroit. There's so much corruption in the politics there it's insane. It's unfortunate to because it's the largest USA/Canada border city.

My parents grew up in Detroit in the 70's, it used to be a thriving city to say the least. But between imports, laziness by the big 3, white flight and crack it's been on the decline for a minute. What I will say is there is a LOT of illegal money in the D....a LOT. It's the only place where unemployment is 25% but you see 40k+ cars on a regular basis.

And California isn't going to go down the same path. Eventualy weed is going to get legalized there and that will be the jumpstart for their economy.

Another reason Detroit went downhill is because they didn't implement a mass transit system like New York and Chicago did.

That's part of the reason why those cities are thriving while the D isn't.

The corruption within the city has brought Detroit to where we're at today. Almost everyone here loved Kwame because he was riding around in navigators with big diamond earrings, a dream for most of the population.... Where'd that get you now?

Wasted money for a city like Detroit. Imo you need destinations if you are going to put all that money into mass transit. White people don't have any business in the city besides sporting events and the auto show once a year.

Casinos BEEN ruining the area for a long time now but nobody is allowed to say anything about it because the power they have... There's a lot wrong with the D, I'm hoping this bankruptcy helps clean up some garbage that has been piling up over the years

I'm saying Detroit should've built rapid transit lines in the 40s and 50s when the city was booming.

Yeah maybe they should've...who knows what that would've done.

Maybe it creates new avenues for the city maybe it's just another avenue for corruption

Mass transit was never gonna happen in Detroit.

It was home of the auto industry, everybody had a car when the city was thriving, EVERYBODY.
