the first time i went to see him i was amazed by the fan fare and the lines around the corner for a DJ - then as he spun the energy was just crazy...the crowdwas on the floor from start to finish...i knew about him from ben and NT then from the paparazzi type stuff..but listening to mixes online couldnt compare toactually being there
i mean everytime i went to see him he would surprise me with the music selection and the ability to not lose the crowd -
couple examples for the dj/music people-
- im in a upscale lounge/club with predominately Italians and white people all jammin on the dance floor when all of of sudden you hear-
"Woke up late, at about noon, just thought that i had to be in compton soon! "
me and my dudes were like
-another time i'm at another nice club at the casino- and in the middle of the main part of the night he did a lil dipset set with songs like suck it ornot, dipset anthem, i really mean it etc...again everyone went crazy - we almost got kicked out for making it rain off the VIP balcony
overall DJ AM was the best at what he did and that was rocking a crowd- kinda put's things in perspective and makes you appreciate stuff a lil more whenyou see someone who has all the $$, fame and talent still have "regular people" problems - I hope he's in a better place now-

Lawenforcement sources directly connected with the death of DJ AM tell us that his death was the result of an accidental overdose and not asuicide -- and there is a tragic, ironic twist of fate.
Our sources say DJ AM, a recovering addict, developed a dependency to Xanax and other benzodiazepines (a group of drugs used to treat anxiety)as a direct result of the plane crash a year ago. We're told AM (aka Adam Goldstein) developed a tremendous anxiety over flying --something he had to do frequently for his job. We're told doctors began prescribing Xanax and other anti-anxiety medications to relieve his fear, but thebenzos triggered a relapse into addiction. We're told benzos are particularly dicey for recovering addicts.
Our sources say DJ AM's relapse was "recent" -- he was not abusing for a prolonged period of time before his death.
We're also told the OD had "absolutely nothing to do with his recent breakup."
Our sources say the evidence strongly indicates cause of death will be a combination of crack cocaine and benzos.

so it was an overdose but not because he wanted to kill himself, just because he took too many drugs ... ... ... ... ... and one of them drugs was crack ...... ... ... ...

i assume that's the way they decide between the two causes of death...the tox reports will tell them how much of the drugs he had in his system and if itwasnt some abnormally high amount then its an OD not a suicide-
people take crack/scripts everyday and function...

rip... people were shocked to see my reaction when i heard the news. they didnt know who he was. to me niketalk is a family no matter how much we know eachother, it still affects us because we are a close community. my thoughts are with his family

enh - i'm just putting what i read out there...neither you nor me can say why it happened...or if he wanted to go or not....unless dude left a note orsomething to that affect then i guess its just gonna be whatever gets put out there-
im not even tryna speculate on that aspect....fact is he is gone and will be missed-

you also have to realize that ppl will say its not due to her just so they can make her sleep at night.
I mean I can picture the scenario. Him escaping the plane crash and not coping with the loss of the others. Then spiraling downward after and having the onepositive thing in his life leave him. In those pics he looks really happy.
Maybe it wasn't entirely on her but i guarantee that had a pretty big impact.

I know every single person there; what would working with AM have to do with my personal relationship with him? Adam was going to be a groomsman at my weddingin Feb. I talked to duke every week, sometimes every single day. I barely talk to my mom 1nce a week. AND not to put it out there like that, but he wasn'ttrippin on Haley like that. end of story.
I can't question the quality of time others spent with Adam, not at all. Just from the OG gathering the other night, we all agreed, 95% of the peopleinvolved in his life in the last 5 years knew the skinny successful AM, we knew Adam from bad to good and all the above. Alan aka Alchemist was maybe 1 of hislongest/truest oldest friends and he has ZERO working relationship with him, me and alan were just talking about this. if you knew Adam like for real for real,you know the deal. also if you know what happened in the last week, the breakup was maybe 8% of what was on his mind (just a random low % # i'm throwingout there)

I'm not saying the breakup is responsible for all of it, but it's much more than "8%", and it's def what pushed him over the edge

So here's my perspective which probably won't mean much:
I heard about DJ AM from NT Posts back in like 03-04 AMC, hadn't heard him DJ until I started going to Banana Split sundays @ LAX (in LA) then BOOM Ibecame a fan. I started DJ'in in 8th grade and his style was so unique because he followed no format and took risks that other DJ's would considerNONO's but he made the crowd go crazy. My friends and I would disagree because a lot of us were anti-serato but after that I bought it and we startedmaking sets with some @#@* that we liked incorporated into the usual party starters. We saw him a bunch of times in the last 5 years in Parties here in LAwhere we felt he played "the stuff he really wanted to play" as well as Coachella and Vegas with a mainstream crowd... Last year I saw him aroundchristmas at some private party with Jazzy Jeff and not a lot of things can top that. Talked to him a few times and he was a cool mellow down to earth dude...even when we were being belligerent drunks thanks to the free keg or the sangria pitchers at the Do Over. I remember seeing him two sundays ago at Bardotdidn't know that was gonna be the last time I saw him rock a party... Bottom line I will consider sobriety because my group of friends (girls too) and Iare really taking things too far at this time in our lives.

i just pray that adam did not experience any pain.
he was a wonderful person with an extremely vibrant soul.
he was someone who i personally encountered on numerous occasions, and always showed tremendous amounts of love and kindness to me and all those around him.
thanks to Ben for hooking me up with Adam many years ago when he was out here doing a show, i was fortunate enough to have met him.
ive really been numb to the news since i heard it, it makes no sense and never will.
