Like whenever you do something positive and people are like "Oh thats real cool" and then they throw in a subliminal negative comment or they go and talk behind your back.  Even when its a blatant accomplishment, I feel like others will still try to put you down.

I've seen this alot through my life, but the one that boggles my mind the most is.....

When I witnessed people laughing at people for going to college, which is the number one thing I never understood.

"HAHA, you're going to a university, you could just be staying at home and selling weed/working retail/waiting tables/working a casino like me and making instant money, I pull like 40k a year out of high school and you wastin your time and !!@"

"But umm, I'm on a track scholarship that pays for everything, and I'm majoring in Engineering which is gonna land me a job sooner or later despite the economy and I'm going to have a career"

"HHHAAHA, I hope those degrees keep you warm"

I've seen it my whole life and learned how to deal with it. I just don't understand why the second someone thinks you're doing more than them they start to hate, some even try to pull you down to their level.

I'm not talking success as in how someone says they're making a ton of money off of drugs or something dumb like that, but genuine legit success.

"Oh I landed a job at firm A"

"HAHA, thats not bad but I heard some people landed a job at firm B which pays better and has a better name. Good job though"

or

"Screw so and so, thinks hes hot cause he got a job at Firm A, he won't last a day there anyways"

not word for word but the gist of it

The worst is the people who say you can't do something.

"You won't get into that grad school program dude, why you even wasting your application fee?"
"You can't go to that university, you high school wasn't good enough"
"You can't get that job, you won't even get an interview"

Then when you do it, they're just like "oh cool, congrats man" and then talk %!%@ to other people on how the school made a bad decision or you got lucky.

H.A.T.E.R.S = Having Anger Towards Everyone Reaching Success

the only reason someone says you can't do something, is because they can't.
