it would depend on their circumstance but since i never stop and conversate with them, i have no way of knowing why they're in this predicament, so no i don't feel sorry for them. although on some cold nights i do kinda feel bad that they're outside sleeping somewhere under newspapers or dirty linen. seeing homeless people remind me of how blessed i am, and also motivates me to strive harder in college and at work, i'll be damned if i turn out like that. they can find SOMETHING to do with all that time they spend begging they could be applying for jobs.

applying for jobs?! f outta here!!! I have two friends who graduated from drexel and columbia and they can't even get jobs!!
but for real--very few places of work are homeless friendly--there's this organization in DC called street sense that gives homeless men and women jobs as vendors of a newspaper written by and for homeless individuals (www.streetsense.org) Mad respect for this organization.
