You can be 23 making 6 figures and if you don't meet requirements then you are still dependent and need parental info

Yeah, only way you would get it if you proved your family was gone from your life or some crazy backstory and how nice your finaid director is. But your own job and income doesn't matter, which I guess is what you're trying to say.You shouldn't be but I'm just saying for an example

Keep a 3.0-3.5 GPA at the community college around here for 2 years, and you get a full ride to University of Maryland.
i know you get an automatic acceptance but I've never heard of a full ride...
