FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

The Cowboy Carl from Black Sheep Burgers in Springfield MO

I enjoyed what I ate but I never liked burgers this absurdly tall because you have to deconstruct.

Yeah, burgers that tall are impossible to bite into. No matter how good the toppings, having to break it down kind of takes away from the experience in my opinion. That being said though, that is one of the better looking tall burgers.

Korean BBQ tonight. Poor photos, I know.

- Daebak
- Chinatown, Chicago
- Thinly sliced beef brisket
- Short rib
- Spicy chicken with cheese and mixed vegetables
- Assorted accoutrement of which I can’t remember the names, unfortunately

Tasted really good all together on a lettuce wrap. I’m not a fan of cooking your own food in restaurants but the waiter does the cooking for you here, so it works out.

Also fried onions are another example of edible garnish
Fried Onions or those "crispy" onions.

Crispy Onions, I can agree to a degree.

Fried Onions, NO, especially since people ASK for them

Grilled red onions on a burger < ALL other kinda onions on a burger
Caramelized yellow :pimp:

I tend to think of Red Onions to be served RAW. (Not saying they CAN'T be cooked)

recent eats (with names this time for that one dude lol)

last 2 were from a tasting menu of this new place in Houston called Restaraunt Indigo pretty cool theme

"At Indigo, Rhodes wants his food to tell stories centered on African Americans and indigenous people. He calls his cuisine “neo-soul food” and describes it as “the new wave of survival food for people of color.” Over the course of the five-course tasting, Rhodes presents each dish and explains how the ingredients on the plate reflect the struggles faced by black and indigenous people in America. For example, along with a dish of malted magnolia-blossom ice cream with salted butterscotch, thyme, and peach-skin preserves, Rhodes discusses how peaches came to be associated with soul food, despite not originating in America or Africa. He calls the dish “Happiness and Hand-Me-Downs.”
