So I need an external hard drive so I can bring my files from my Macbook at home to the computers at my school, and also between the laptops and desktops at myhouse.

Im lookin for around 500MB, no need for a whole damn TB.

I need it to be fast, reliable, and sturdy.

Any suggestions on brands or models?

Thanks in advance.

They will all die at one point or another. Even Western Digital. I've had two (My Book Home and My Book World) die on me in the same month. Shame.

I would say Western Digital.

i got two 1 tb my books and a 200 passport.

im bout to get a 500 passport.

i once had a seagate external that had 300 gb of music and movies then i halfway dropped it once and it never worked again.

i'm saving it for when technology advances enough to where i can extract the data at home in my spare time

.

Going to cop a 1TB, soon. Can't have my Passport die on me.

Western Digital seems like the best bet for Mac, or atleast what I think.

Seems like Western Digital is a good brand from the reviews on NewEgg.

Are there any brands that are specifically for Mac, or does it even matter?

Can someone recommend me a good external hd that uses firewire instead of USB?

I'm on a mac btw.

i used to be pro laCie until the power cord died on me, and i had to wait a month to get another one. so, screw 'em, get a WD.
