Is dropping Cable/ Satellite a serious option?

http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20022909-1.html
Kind of inspired me.
Unlike the author of this article
I could use an antenna to get the basic channel
I already pay for League pass so bball isnt an issue
ESPN 3 is great
Netflix is a god send and having an Xbox and PS3 virtually negates the need for ON Demand
For me the issue comes down to is Hulu + worth the $8 a month ( dont mind watching cable shows later)
and is the content of HBO, Showtime etc enough to get away with this situation.
Note It would be cool if you assessed what you do for TV too...
Do not factor in Torrents cause thats cheating

very true, but ESPN broadcast all of their games on ESPN 3, and NBA League pass broadband is like $100 if you really watch basketball. The only thing missing is local and TNT games.
I personally dont mind cause my market isnt the same as for my team.
and when it is (college) WGN is still an option
Jschue what are some sites that dont go out too much.
I knew about Hulu, but I need live TNT

I haven't had a TV in about 2 years. Hulu, streaming TV sites, Netflix. I don't miss my TV one bit. Your life frees up so much when you don't feel constrained to watch TV. Not to mention the money you save. $150 for a monthly cable bill? Hell no...

I hope you got phone, internet, tv + porn channels for that price.

What company was charging you 150$/month?

Straight up
Digital preferred is 85 bucks at comcast in Chicago.
NO HD, either.
New customers are always preferred, and when you dont switch services after each promo period you end up with a 200 cable bill that has no HD or Land line service.
Hints why I am personally now exploring and strongly considering switching to this idea

For those who don't have cable, how do you pay for the Internet and what company is it through? (is it as fast as Comcast/Verizon?)

Comcast provides my cable and Internet and unfortunately because of where I live I don't have many other options. In order to keep my bill low I have to complain and request a promo price every 6 months or so. I hate it but I can't live without NFL Network and fast internet

Wish I could cause I only watch about an hour a week but I don't think the wife would be down for it.

I'm getting a Google TV, in the near future. I Don't watch much cable TV shows. NBA league is available on Google TV, MLB games are available on PS3, Netflix, vudu and Pandora are the internet services i use the most. Cable is looking more analog than digital right now, and people fail to see that the idea of watching Television is becoming more Web-based. Give me a fast internet line and I'm straight.
