Rakim = G.O.A.T.
why cuz he was hot at ONE time?
The Master and The 18th Letter are both garbage.
Jay-Z been consistent.
of course he's done @#%$ stuff too...but for the most part Jay-Z always stayed on top.

Jay at his lowest is better than 99.9 percent of rappers out.

That's why people say he's overrated though. That's just not true.
Goooooooooonies***I'm as hood as a hoopty, keep it gangsta in Gucci, put your girl in some Pucci, she'll let me play in her coochie!***

I was at a bar last friday and I met a whitegirl who raps about taking dumps on dudes chests and getting f'd by a moose. Dead serious.
But for real, Jay-Z might be overrated my some, but he's my favorite rapper, and has made some of my favorite music. I'm not going to try to convince people that they should feel the same way, but some people try to do that, which in my opinion is wrong. I do think that people should admit that he is a very talented rapper.
All that said, I have wondered about the whole "freestyle" thing. I've thought sometimes that his songs might be better if he put in a little more effort, but he still makes (mostly) great music. eh... "It's just my thoughts..."

peep the date though. this article was written on the 2nd when the album wasnt released yet (atleast not legally)
Yea I understand but dude is wilin'. He expects American Gangster to be wack off of Blue Magic. That's a lames do. Hate on @#%$ they haven't heard based off of one song.

I agree but you might as well stick every deceased rapper in there. Once you die become the greatest of all time.

Placing Hova alongside Biggie Smalls, Nas and Wu-Tang Clan on the list of the greatest rappers of all time is ridiculous.
Thank you! I was just saying that today, how it is a shame that NaS and the Wu are both puting out albums soon, and the only person that has been getting any attention is HOV.

Rakim transcends time. His influence is still seen today in rappers whose style he birthed. And his lyrics still go harder than most of what you hear today.

Ahh, yes. Choose the albums he released 10+ years after his debut. You know what Jay-Z dropped 10 years after his debut? Kingdom Come.
And I don't think they're bad enough to call them garbage. The 18th Letter was pretty good.

His catolog is full of ups and downs. He never had a stretch run like Rakim had from '86 to '92, dropping arguably 4 classics in a row.

But this is not Scribble Jam. Bragging about not writing down lyrics is like Albert Pujols boasting he simply goes to the plate and swings. That's cool, but wouldn't he be better if he took BP? Would it kill Jay to give his songs some extra consideration and editing?Team Florida
