I think 12.5 is a relatively new size in the history of Nike. I can't ever remember seeing a 12.5 in the 80s or 90s when I was growing up at b/m stores

They definitely existed. Just so uncommon that retailers would never order them bc customers never asked for the size bc it was never in store ... the cycle.
