Hey yall.
So, I unknowingly copped a fake pair after they sold out last fall. After a few weeks, I started to notice all the subtle ways the shoe was different than my other Future Premiums, the Infrareds that released the same day as the Glows, the grey ones with the icy soles, and the brown chocolate joints.
Suspecting I got got for the fake pair, I secured an authentic pair of Glows this week and decided to take some up close and personal pictures at the main differences so other people in the market can make sure to peep these things when securing a pair that have long sold out in the stores.
To quote Hov "I did that, so you wouldn't have to go thru that" ha!
Nothing worse than wasting hundred$ on some fake kicks.
Hope this is helpful.
A few things first:
All these pics were taken in natural day light on an iPhone 6, with no filters or anything added to em.
Also, I've been beating around in the fake pair since mid october in crappy Seattle winter weather, so that'll explain the condition of the soles on the fake pair, however the cloudy more green tint was there from jump.
Let's start with the Production Dates on these pairs, cross referenced with the Jordan Future Premium Infrared - 652141 023.

Jordan Future Glow Size & Production Date Tag
Authentic Pair
I wasn't precise in my initial post.
Both my Infrared and Glows have the same production end date, but different start dates.
The production dates for my Authentic Glows are: 10/9/13 - 1/08/14
Size & Production Date Tag
Fake Pair
The production dates on the fake pair are: 10/09/13 - 12/25/13

Production dates on the Jordan Future Premium Infrared (reminder they both came out the same weekend): 10/21/13 - 01/08/14
Laces and Lace Tips
Top Lace Fake, Bottom Lace Authentic
Don't be afraid of the rubber bands on the lace tips. they should be there. Just not these bright disgusting yellow ones that are on the fake pair (which I removed once I realised they were fake and had compared them to my red future premiums).
What you should really pay attention to is the thickness and sheen of the waxed laces. The wide fuzzy one on the right is the fake pair, and the lace tips are this really pale weak 'gold', the kind you'll see on cheap bathroom faucets or something. Can't really explain it, and sadly the light I took this pic in didn't work that well to show the difference in tint.
Lace and Lace Tips (Continued)
Top Lace Fake, Bottom Lace Authentic
Here is another shot of the laces next to each other. On the fake pair (top) you can probably see the fuzziness of the actual lace. Also notice the difference in the clamp of the lace tip where the lace tip and lace meet. I didn't take a picture of the difference, but when you unscrew the tips off, the fake pair definitely has the extra lace extending past the end of the lace tip base like all the other legit checks will tell you, so do mind that when checking these out.
Lace Differences (Continued)
Top Pair Authentic, Bottom Pair Fake
Difference in lace thickness and sheen again.
Waxed Laces and 3M Weave
Top Shoe Fake, Bottom Shoe Authentic
Here is a detail of the waxed laces and the 3M weave. The laces on the fake pair (top) are thick, and fuzzy and not waxed at all. I got the all black and red future premiums early, and those laces were always slipping and coming untied without a double not. These fake future glows never came untied, which shoulda been the first sign for me haha.
Also, the 3M weave on the fake pair is decidedly thicker than authentic pair. The authentic pair is light and the weave holds its shape pretty well. The fake pair sorta flops around and folds in pretty weird, even when you have it on.
I'd do a compare and contrast with the authentics on foot, but I don't really wanna un-DS them just yet. Not in this weather anyway.
3M Weave Detail
Top Pair Real, Bottom Pair Fake
Here you can see the contrast of the 3M weave again. The authentic pair (top) is smooth and uniform across the woven upper, the fake pair has this weird tumbled look to it. Also the 3M stripes don't reflect as brightly on the fake pairs,
Authentic Pair (Side View)
The authentic pair's profile is just cleaner and the weave is tighter/more flat.
Fake Pair (Side View)
The fake pair's profile is a little less deliberate than the Authentic pair. I'd chalk that up to the thickness of the fake's '3M' weave, compared to that of the Authentic's weave which is more light weight.
Side by Side Shoe Silhouette (Side View)
Left Shoe Fake, Right Shoe Authentic
Here are the left shoe from both pairs side by size. Even when the fake pair (left) was brand new, they didn't look as structured and clean as the authentic pair (right).
Side By Side (Aerial View)
Left Shoe Fake, Right Shoe Authentic
hard to make the compairson from here considering how beat up the fake pair is from wear, but you can already tell the angle of the weave is off slightly. The weave just doesn't look as clean as the authentic (right shoe) pair.
Carbon Fiber (Fake Pair)
Carbon fiber seems legit, until you see a real pair next to em. Also, midsole folds weird.
Carbon Fiber (Authentic Pair)
Carbon fiber is black with tonal refractive grey circular cross weave. Glow in the dark outsole looks like a dream compared to the murky and green tinted fake pair. Midsole looks like it should.
Outsole (Front)
Top Shoe Fake, Bottom Shoe Authentic
You'll probably be able to see the point I was making about the cloudiness of the fake pair's glow in the dark sole (top right) vs the authentic (bottom left). Also, the edges on the "lip" of the sole are a little cleaner/sharper on the authentic pair vs the soft roundness of the fake pair.
Also noticed the much brighter reflection in the authentic pair's 3M strips.
Outsole
Left Shoe Fake, Right Shoe Authentic
Like I said, I've been beating up the fake pair since October in bad Seattle winter weather and beyond. The center of the outsole (just above the jumpman logo) on the fake pair is pretty much the same colour as when I bought them new, so that's a pretty good comparison to the overall murkiness and cloudiness of the fake glow in the dark outsole (left side) compared to the authentic (right side)
Outsole and Midsole (Back)
Top Shoe Authentic, Bottom Shoe Fake
Check the shape of the point on the back of the shoe where the outsole and midsole meet. The authentic pair will have a sharper point, where the fake pair will be more rounded and dull.
You can kind of tell the tints of the glow in the dark sole are off as well. The fake pair (bottom right of this photo) has a cloudy, more yellowish green tint compared to the slightly more clear and blue-ish of the authentic pair (top left of this photo).
If you get a chance to hold these in person, you'll notice the mid sole is harder on the fake pairs as well.
Outsole and Midsole Point Detail (Authentic Pair)
The real. Look how clean the 3M strips are, and the point made at the heel of the outsole. Also the little woven pattern on the all black midsole is more defined,
Outsole and Midsole Point Detail (Fake Pair)
The fugazi. Look how loose and dull the 3M strips are, and the rounded point made at the heel of the outsole. Also the little woven pattern on the all black midsole is sloppy.
Weave, Midsole and Outsole Detail (Real Pair)
Weave is clean, 3M strips are thin, midsole cross hatching on point, outsole not muddy and snot coloured.
Weave, Midsole and Outsole Detail (Fake Pair)
Weave looks more loose, 3M strips are wider, outsole muddy and snot coloured.
