Looking to buy a new PC what are some good websites I can go to, so I can build my PC and select everything I want in it? Or should I just go for a Dell or HP?I want one thats customizable with a good warranty because I dont want crappy Vista on it (Leopard ftw!) I need a lot of memory nothing less than 200gb andfast ram and a decent graphics card. Thanks for the help

also Mac >> PC

I use PCs for torrent/music/movie/pr0n purposes only. and gaming.

235 gb ram?lol..Thats not even possible..e-machine is trash anyways...But yeah, how are you gonna say you want a pc then say you want Leopard as the operatingsystem?

Mac is the only brand with Leopard as a possibility...Basically if you buy any new Mac its gonna have Leopard on it..I've heard you can put XP on a Dell PCif you customize it on their site but I dont buy Dells so I wouldn't know..HP doesn't offer XP anymore so you're pretty much stuck with Vista

Also, is there a reason you don't want Vista or are you just saying you don't because everyone says its wack?..I've had 2 PC's with Vista andI've had no issues..If you're planning n using business programs or something that may possibly not be compatible with Vista then I can see whyyou'd hate Vista so much but other than that, any vulnerability in security on a Vista computer is pretty much possible on an XP computer..Also, if youcan, buy a computer with the 64 bit version of Vista because it'll be harder to get a virus on one of those..May cost more but it'll be worth it

I'd go with an HP or a Gateway..The Gateway FX models have big hard drives and nice graphics cards..Some also have Blu-Ray players but it'll costyou..You never mentioned what your price range was

I said Vista is crappy and Leopard ftw. I never said I wanted Leopard on the PC. And I hate Vista because I have used a Vista based computer and its

Like I probably wouldnt have any problems with it, IF I didnt alreadymake the switch to Mac. But going from Mac to Vista is just god awful. I really only use PCs to just store things other than that I use Mac. And the highestprice I am going is $2,000. So HP and Gateway is poppin now? Dell is out?

Dell's been garbage for a minute but nowadays they have HP models with Blu-Ray,1000 Gb hard drives and 4gb of Ram and Nvidia Geforce 8800Gt Graphics cardsfor like 1200-1400..The media center ones are pretty nice...Leopard is a smooth operating system with less security threats but the only reason you can'tget a virus on a mac is because nobody wastes their time to make one because more people have pc's as opposed to macs..but Mac is way up on the rise and ifMac's start to become as popular as PC's within a few years, Macs are gonna be just as vulnerable to viruses as a PC...I've already seen Anti-Virusprograms being made by Norton for Apple PC's..not a good sign at all

Gateway's lower end models are trash but if you spend like 900-1200 on a desktop, you're gonna get something good...Familiar specs to a high end HP..Ifyou're willing to shell out the $200 you can always just buy XP and install it on a desktop but with the new Service Pack thats out for Vista it may besmoother than the current PC you're using..And if you're really into gaming I'd look into a Velocity Micro or an AlienWare PC..Both easilycustomizable all the way down to the design of the tower

With a mentality like that, stick to your mac. Windows xp/vista would be too complicated for you.

what?

dude.....GTFOHWTMFBS!

With that much money you should just get a mac. You sound like a mac fan, so I'm sure anything windows based would be disappointing.

posting from my MBP now.

Had it since October 07 and it's been great so far, no complaints from me.

I feel like my computer will last forever.

I'm about to get a MacBook or a MacBook Pro in the summer after they upgrade it this year.

Yo I have a question for you guys.

I have an HP with Windows Vista and it freezes up like 4-6 times a week man, but the computer is only used for browsing NT and craigslist, no like just that.No downloading of porn, but music yeah I do download music. But, I just started downloading music in the ending of March, and I've had the computer sincelike maybe October 07, and it started happening like the 2nd month I had the computer.

Is this normal?

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

I just hold down the power button to the computer and have to turn it off and back on manually. This is something that is very common for my computer. Also, one of the reasons I want to make a jump to a Mac. I've had nothing but bad experiences with PC's.

Until Apple can justify charges crazy prices for Mac's I sure as hell won't be buying one.

PC IS NIIIIICE!

I love the daily comforts of running my routine of Ad-Aware, Spybot and Avast, JUST to keep my PC functioning.

Plus the monthly rigors of defragging and regular system maintenance is really fun.

I feel like such a G when I'm getting my swerve on in BIOS.
You gotta see my custom case too. It looks like a spaceship and has all these LEDs with custom artwork to look like it fell out of space. Neato.

But seriously dude- as far as downloading goes, you can take advantage of all the p2p resources, torrents & newsgroups on Macs, with WAY less chances ofthe bog-down that Putting In Work just mentioned. Every PC person I know encounters the eventual "bog-down" unless they're a super-enthusiast ofthe daily diagnostic checks.

Gaming may be a different story. I'm not up on PC gaming, so if getting your frag on is a priority, a Windoze machine may be the thing for you.

Why not just cop a good game console + Mac?

uTorrent with tweaks + demonoid >>>>>>> ANY p2p service on Mac ...trust me.

I'm running Transmission + Demonoid on my Mac. Also running Xtorrent- a pretty decent client that searches a TON of trackers (all public tho) at once.Ports are forwarded on my router and I'm seeing on avg 450-900kbs on wifi.

I have windows vista and I reformatted it and reinstalled vista ultimate and it hasn't frozen/lagged since then. It's pretty much all the bs thatDell/HP add on to it imo
