Minnesota Family Pulled Over; Police Shoots Man For Getting His License...After He Told Him To Get H

and then they wonder why black folks take off running as soon as the cops roll up on them and when the cop catches up to them and ask them why they ran the black man first answer is IDK or i got scared and he wasnt doing anything wrong but now he being arrested for running from the cops.

if the police officer role is to serve and protect why do us black men feel feared? Holding your hands up aint enough word to the other black man who got shot walking towards that white female officer with his hands up all because his car broke down :smh:

It won't matter either way bro. I kind of think your scenario would make things even worse because if they search the car and find it they will get hostile with you and not even ask if you have a permit for it. It doesn't take much for these animals to wild out. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't

I feel you. But i would rather take my chances and be sitting on the curb outside my car when they find it than to have it on me and tell em i have it.

Man, if that was shown in court...

it was.... :smh:

The video was made public just days after the Latino officer was acquitted on all counts in the case. Although the squad-car footage was described repeatedly and was shown to jurors in the courtroom, it had never been made public until Tuesday.

checked the comments on yahoo for ***** and giggles...people are really upset the cop got away...i expected differently

Wow

I dunno how people could see anything other than murder from that video. All i see is a man walk up to a car, engage the driver in a convo and out of nowhere shoot him numerous times. **** the badge **** the uniform, thats nothing less than murder :smh:

Let me clarify. I assume cops see black men as a threat or dangerous the moment they pull you over. They're not pulling you over just because. Mix in the fact that you are a stranger to a person trained to respond to a threat and you mentioning the word gun escalates the situation. I'd much rather sit in a cell because they found a gun than take a few bullets because I said the word gun. If they search and find something, good for them. Cops shoot to kill, not to injure.

I can't believe they saw the video and still didn't find anything wrong with it? Jesus Christ man :smh:

What about the daughter? She witness a traumatic thing does anyone care about her? Did this jury think about what that has and will do to her in the future. This is the perfect example of why the negative image of police continues. Children witnessing this kind of madness. And after doing what they did to her fiance they have the nerve to treat her like a damn criminal hand cuffing her and **** :smh:

Wow

Exactly! This is supposed to be a trained professional who is supposed to be able to deescalate situations. All I ever see is them escalating **** time and time again.

 Nothing Matters

:wow: at that video!!

That might be worse than the South Carolina video.

I'm legit shocked at that one.

That looks like a parody, it's so bad!

I'm usually numb & desensitized to things I see on the internet but this got me feeling all kinds of emotions, mostly anger.

How that cop can walk around knowing he killed an innocent man and not going to have any kind of repercussions, man....

It's sad when we live in a world where we're able to say things like, "I'm not surprised" in reference to injustice involving black people.

I'm so curious about what the conversation was in that room with the jury, when they reached their verdict. How can you have no empathy for human life ?

This is supposed to be a trained professional

No way anyone can ever convince me a police officer is a 'trained' professional.

Professionals adhere to a strict rule of technical competence, countless continuing education training, ethical standards, effective communication... these police officers today are your standard mall cops with a guns, and protected by a flawed judicial system. Pathetic!

Man wth. Just watched that video and that cop was on some other stuff. I'm willing to bet dude wasn't even making any suspicious movements;he was talking calmly and probably cooperating. I wouldn't have even mentioned the pistol though. Beyond tragic. No surprise that the cop got off.

In my carry class I was told I don't have to tell them I'm carrying, because they will know when they run my name.

I was later told by an officer that establishing trust from the start is my best bet considering my race and appearance (dreads and beard) so it's wise to tell the officer to remove it from my person himself if he asks before he runs my name.

A literal police officer essentially told me I'm black with a gun so I need to be careful.

I'm assuming at least one person wanted a guilty verdict on at least one of the three counts. They deliberated for ~27 hours or 3 days worth of deliberations. My guess is someone backed off their position based on peer pressure.

Hindsight 20/20, the prosecution completely ****** up by not introducing the fact that the coward said he didn't see the gun in an interview right after the incident. Their strategy was to wait until the defense said he didn't see the gun, and then pounce on it. Defense never brought it up so when the prosecution finally tried to, judge didn't allow it.

Regardless, this should clearly have been an open and shut case based on the facebook live video and the dash cam video.

Any other profession and this level of incompetence is HUGE law suits and that person's career pretty much done.. yet they have brilliantly aligned themselves with military folks and this belief of pride and nobility in the profession

The average joe is expected to remain calm with a person yelling and pointing a gun at them and that's before you factor in if multiple officers are present.. yet the "professionals" have some absurd nonexistent standard

Reminds me a lot of the video with a cop and young black dude standing behind an suv. Cop asks him for his id, he touches his pocket, realizes it's not there then turns to reach inside the vehicle, cop panics and shoots him like 7 times. Dude survived though, probably got paid too.

As bad as it sounds, the cop kept it 100% real with RIP Sleazy. Your appearance does affect how you are judged, especially with cops, and that first impression could be the difference of life and death.

Prosecution did that on purpose. (If true) That's the system.

Diamond Reynolds, the girlfriend of Philando Castile, arrives in court on June 6, 2017.

Philando Castile’s girlfriend, who famously filmed the cafeteria worker moments after he was fatally shot by a police officer, will receive $800,000 in settlements.

Reynolds, who was in the car with Castile and her four-year-old daughter at the time of the shooting, will receive $675,000 from the city of St. Anthony, Minn., with an additional $125,000 from the city of Roseville and the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust.

Reynolds and her daughter, who were not physically injured, claimed emotional distress and false arrest in connection the shooting.

A portion of the funds will be placed into a trust for her daughter’s education, according to a press release issued by St. Anthony.

St. Anthony Mayor Jerry Faust said, “This settlement resolves all civil litigation stemming from the incidents on July 6, 2016, and opens the door to continued healing within our community.”

Reynolds issued a statement saying, “While no amount of money can change what happened, bring Philando back, or erase the pain that my daughter and I continue to suffer, I do hope that closing this chapter will allow us to get our lives back and move forward.”

News of the settlement agreement comes five months after St. Anthony agreed to pay $2.995 million to Castile’s mother.

The 32-year-old school cafeteria supervisor was pulled over in the suburb of Falcon Heights on July 6, 2016 by Officer Jeronimo Yanez, who asked to see his license and registration.

Castile, who told the officer that he was carrying a licensed gun, reached towards his waistband before he was shot four times.

Reynolds then livestreamed the scene on Facebook showing Castile as blood soaked his white t-shirt.

The shooting sparked protests across the country. Nearly a year after Castile’s death, Yanez was acquitted on all counts.

Nothing can ever replace a life, but I’m glad his mother was awarded the $3 Million. Hopefully it’s invested responsibly.
