Need excuse to miss meeting

I've got this end of year meeting/party for one organization I'm in at school. It's this Wednesday at 10pm, which would entail me making an 80mi round trip drive when I have work Thursday morning and lots of other things to do. I'm not going to be in this organization next year, but I need a reason to miss.

I don't want to use the early morning work excuse. I was thinking of messaging the leader on Tuesday that I have the flu and am not sure I'll be able to make it. Thoughts?
