Just curious for the truth.

I will definitely do that with my Spyderco once my pair has reached end of life.

25 years ago my old man did it to my worn out Nike Air Max III and Asics Gel 101 runners with a Jimmy Lile Rambo 1 knife and it was hard work. The blue Asics gel bag was really cool to me being an elementary school kid.

True, I wear 9.5 in 1s and it feels super comfy so I think I'll just go with it.

My left shoe has started squeaking every ******* step I take. I've checked the bottom of the shoe no gum nothing sticky, cleaned the bottoms completely anyway just to be certain. Checked inside the shoe, under the insole, everywhere I could get to without tearing the shoe open. Couldn't find anything. Squeaks like a rubber boot on a polished marble floor. Very irritating. Loud enough to be audible to others.

I've noticed with my ultra boost that are notorious for squeaking, it's usually after I've gave them a good wash and once the bottoms start to get dirty from wear again it goes away.

They were squeaking lightly dirty on the bottom, they're squeaking completely cleaned the issue is not related to the bottom.
