Hey Guys, I'm looking to put 2 8" or 10" subs built in to the side of my trunk (one on either side). The car is a 2007 S550, I was just wondering if you guys could point me in a direction as to the best bang for my buck for sound quality . Also, If I put the 2 subs in my trunk do I have to look into changing all the speakers in the front of the car to make it sound proper or could I leave it stock and still have it sound nice and clean?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

what's the best amp I can get for around 150ish. I'm not to audio savvy but I will be using it to power a set of Rsd65cs and an Eclipse sw8010. I was looking at the MB Quart ONX4.125 as I've seen in this thread but need an opinion before I make the purchase today.

Rule of thumb is to start from the front and move your way back.

How is a 15" Alpine Type R Sub with a ported box and a 1400watt Crunch Amp for $300? A friend is selling for this price, should I take it?

So, I bought my first car recently (used) and wanted to revamp the whole stereo system. I got the hook up from a friend that works at Best Buy on an Alpine head unit and 6 x 9 rear speakers. Even before the hook up you could call these budget level components ($350 MSRP head unit, $100 MSRP 6 x 9) which were bought just to have some music in the car. Now, I bought the rear speakers first because they were totally blown out. They sound crisp (a little distortion when the music is at max volume, but I won't ever ride around like that) but my attention is now on the front speakers. They work, but they are stock and leave a lot to be desired. I've read here that you should start with front speakers first and work your way back so I want advice on which front speakers (6.5 in. diameter) and sub/amp give most bang for your buck and preferably available at BB. I know it's asking for a lot, but if I can get any help, I'll appreciate it. I also know I won't get any top of the line stuff, but adequate sound is enough for me.

Here are some stuff I'm looking at

As far as the amp goes, I don't really know where to start. I want a clean sound that is stable at moderately loud music (I mostly listen to bass heavy down south music, but I don't want my trunk rattling/flexing like I'm trying to win a competition). Any other suggestions or comments you have are welcome. I'm just trying to get some help. Thanks in advance.

You want to run component speakers upfront, not a coax.

Their component selection is weak, so i'd look elsewhere for that.

Sub wise, the jbl sub you picked is an excellent choice.

What car is this going in? and how much is the discount?

I tried to cover all the bases on my first post but obviously missed some.

Anyway, I have a Mitsubishi 3000GT. As for the discount I get, it's changed now, but I bought the rear speakers and head unit for 60-70% off. Due to Best Buy changing their employee discount policy, the most I can get off now is 50%.

Edit: I just looked up component speakers and that's what I'll be going with. One question, though: will the crossovers have to be close to the component speakers in order for them to work?

Can you post some component speakers that are worth a look?

Nah, it doesn't matter where the crossover is.

Even @ 50%, most of the stuff at bestbuy isn't worth it since they charge retail + a markup.
