I bought a 997 following my TTS but real use it seems to be a bit longer(some allowance at the front of my toes)

They have the same length (.5 down cause they run large) but 998s are wider/roomier in the toebox.

997 is a bit narrower compared to 998's so sometimes you can get away with tts for a looser fit and .5 down if you want more snug. Also depends on if you have a wide foot.  As for 998...  def .5 down and you can get away with full size down if you have a narrow foot or are between sizes.
