I get what you're saying i just don't agree when it comes to a dress code for sports in general. When you say madness would insue what is that? If thats just players wearing whatever color gloves, mouthpieces and cleats they want I wouldn't care at all, I actually want that to happen. The only thing IMO that should be against the rules is altering or adding things to the Helmet, jersey, pants, socks.Law firm no. Place of work with a dress code yes. There was once a time we didn't have the stupid celebration rules. What happened? Dudes started hiding stuff and using props.
I'd bet any amount of money if the NFL did away with the dress code madness will ensue. You can honor a person in any number of ways. It just so happens the one way they choose to do it is breaking league rules.
People could simply place something in there sock every game that can't be seen but they wanna put it somewhere visible for all of us to see. It's not a thing for us. It's personal. As long as you know it's there why do we need to know?
EDIT: The celebration rules are understandable because that affects the game (getting to the next kickoff and stuff like that) but colors of cleats and other accessories do not affect the game.
