Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

 Well, my girl had to take her glasses off right away because you know that whole IMAX countdown intro before the movie begins? Yeah, she wasn't expecting that. First time ever to an IMAX 3D showing.

Thought it was good, didn't think that you need to be a young kid to enjoy it like some are saying.

It's hilarious though, I always thought the way Charlie Hunham walked in Sons of Anarchy was supposed to be a character attribute of Jax Teller.

Nope!

That's how he apparently walks all the time. The Hunham walk.

Probably one of the cooler movies I've ever seen, which doesn't coincide with GREAT, but still solid. Loved how they classified the monsters, the Category 5s, 4s all that. Loved the different types and how it actually looked real unlike the Power Ranger episodes I watched from back in the 90s. :smh:

I'll write more on it later, but a couple questions.

1. What was the significance of the "Monster groupie" or Newton as they called him holding the shoe, and then the Asian chick as a girl holding the shoe? Felt like it was supposed to mean something, but for the life of me I couldn't make a connection.

2. What was Idris Elba sick with? I noticed that the "Monster groupie" also had a bloody nose. Did they both drift with the monster?

New Line is already prepping for a possible sequel for The Conjuring and is looking into a possible franchise based off the characters from this movie, the Warrens. The Husband and Wife who worked tons of cases including this one, and the Amityville one, Haunting in Connecticut is loosely based on some of their findings, etc.

THAT would be freaking fantastic. Doing multiple films about their encounters over all those years. :wow: :pimp:

1. I'm not sure what Charlie Day grabbing his shoe was for, other than to maybe spite Hannibal. Idris picks up the Asian girls shoe right? I think it was just a symbol of their relationship, I could be way off though.

2. I think the more you drift in general, the more sick you become. Since he's a veteran, he probably had tons of exposure. It was the final drift that killed him, since he said it was his last ride and he wouldn't be coming back.

Anyone else seen A Late Quartet? Christopher Walken, Phillip Seymour-Hoffman, Catherine Keener.

Holy ****, was that good. The antithesis of Lawless. Beautiful. There's clarity. Excellent character study. One of the better movies I've seen in awhile.

Man dude said it plain as day. The first Jaegers didn't have any radiation shielding because they had to build them so fast AND they didn't know one person couldn't handle the neural lode piloting a Jaeger solo

Calvin & Hobbes is my all time favorite comic strip. It's the best ever IMO. It took the existentialism of Peanuts & made it more visual & lyrical. It took the art of the comic strip to a whole new level.

I also looooved that creator/artist/writer Bill Watterson never sold out. He never licensed anything other than the books compiling his work which is astonishing if you think about it (in this age of crass commercialism).

Below is a trailer for a doc called Dear Mr. Watterson which hits VOD & theaters on November 15th.

Wifey wants me to take her to see this when it comes out... Great cast.... Looks like a good mind candy movie...

Finally saw this & it was really good. A bit heart wrenching even. Not a tree hugger but I do care enough not to support companies like Sea World... Posted the trailer a while back. Included below is a clip from the movie.

this looks like a must see. thanks for posting. i'm also a tree hugger but still, it's just not cool to keep a creature that large in such a small ecosystem.

Thanks Venom...

This looks like a good VOD rental... It premieres on VOD tomorrow I think... Always appreciate Guy Pearce.

I hope Claire Danes and Kevin Spacey win lead actor/actress.

Dinklage should beat out Banks and Cannavale for supporting actor. Can't call it on supporting actress

Can't call it on drama series, I'd be happy with any except I haven't started watching Downton Abbey.

Michael J. Fox should win outstanding guest actor.

1 nom for the Americans? :smh:

No noms for Dexter? :smh:

Guess I shouldn't be surprised, these the people that stiffed The Wire every single year.

Looking at the list, there was no room to swap in The Americans really. You'd have to add them cuz everybody is raving over GoT and Downton Abbey. You could argue Jeff Daniels lead actor role but I don't think dude playing Phillip was that amazing. Keri got shafted though, she definitely could've got the nom over Connie in Nashville (that show really isn't that good).

No way Dexter was getting a nom. The writing is on the wall. Downton Abbey, GoT, and House of Cards pushed them out. Their first, second and third seasons are leagues better than last season's Dexter.

Family Guy-Simpsons crossover episode planned for next year?

Who should they have replaced?

Dexter doesn't have the same kind of critical love as those other shows, which means the acting would need to be that great in order to bump out any of those other actors.

Dexter isn't beating out any of those actors. And Deb? Maybe has an argument over Connie Britton but that's about it. But she's been nominated in the past so she'll have more support over Jennifer Carpenter.

Victor should have received a nomination for guest star, imo.

Deb could have an argument with Britton, but I know Connie is very good as well so not too upset.

Not even an episode got nominated?

Dex usually is in the mix himself, that's fine if they give him a year off, I can handle that.

I was just saying that something from that show was worthy looking at all the other names that got listed, and multiple times at that.

And don't even get me started on the leads from The Americans. How the **** did they not catch a single look? :smh:

No big, like I said, they stiff the Wire every year, so I can't be too surprised about it.
