Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Watched Looper yesterday. 5/5
My mind was blown. It was confusing to say the least. Mainly because Joseph's character was in the future and Bruce's character was also in the future times two. So in some scenes such as the beginning where you see Bruce, I was like wait...wut? Not sure if Joseph is in future or Bruce is in past...or both.

I liked that most of my presumptions about how the story would unfold were wrong.

Presumptions I had: Bruce and Joseph are going to work together. Kid is going to die. Blonde fake mother is from the future. Bruce's wife worked for the rain man.

All in all, I enjoyed this film. I remember seeing the trailer when it first released and I was unsure if Joesph Levitt was starring in the movie. Those eyes make him into a diff. person. Which was surprising. I wonder how they did that.

As of late(2009-2012), what are some excellent action or adventure movies?

Do you mean known titles like Avengers, Skyfall, Fast Five or lesser known movies?
Either or.
The I haven't seen any bonds films but skyfall is on my to-watch list.

Before you do Skyfall, start with Craigs begginnings. Do Casino Royale, then Quantum of Solace, then Skyfall. Solace lets you down a smidge, but I liked it alot. (first Bond to pick up after the previous one ended, loved the idea, just in the middle of the writer strike, people got pissed)

You already saw Raid, that was unreal.

Lesser known, look up a movie called Chocolate. Martial Arts autistic girl. Trust me. Just....trust me.

Also look at the Act of Valor. Battleship (mindless action) and the ones I already mentioned, Avengers, Fast Five, etc.

If Nolan really is given the reins to DC and the Justice League movie, even as just a producer, summer 2015 is going to turn into the biggest heavyweight bout ever. Disney's Avengers 2 + Star Wars 7 vs Christopher Nolan's team doing Justice League. ****. :wow: :wow: :wow:

The only loser in that is Avatar, cuz they gettin passed over.

I remember when I watched this by accident and then again on purpose. Same damn results

That's Lynch though :pimp:

Liked Mulholland Falls as well since it was mentioned.

Dub, watch Elephant Man. I really dug it, sadness and all.
Man I wanted to turn that nonsense off, but I was already 30 mins in and I said to myself, "I minus whale keep going."

Oh yea, I saw the movie, "The Impossible." Solid Movie.

Also, I saw Alex Cross. I gave Tyler Perry a chance and............ he passed. I was looking for a reason not to like the movie but it was cool.

Villan was a damn good heel.

I'll stand by John Hyams's Universal Soldier films as being competent action movies. Don't even need to see the previous ones in the series; it's better if you go in blind.

Here are some foreign action flicks I've seen over the last couple of years I've liked; 13 Assassins (Japanese), Outage & Beyond Outage (Japanese), Ip Man & Ip Man 2 (Chinese), Elite Squad (Brazil), Chocolate (Thai), & Legend Of The Fist (Chinese), The Host (Korean), & The Man From Nowhere (Korean)...

I think the cast of JJ Barea, Derek Fisher, Manu Ginobili, Blake Griffin, and Andy Varejao could submit a better acting performance than those in Act of Valor.

Thanks for the suggestion

Seent: Ip Man 1/2, elite squad 1/2, Man from nowhere.

Seent 15 min. of 13 assassins and fell asleep. I fast forwarded to the end fight.

I'll check out trailers for your other suggestions, thanks.

The Warriors is a movie I would love to see get remade now.

The 1970s cheesiness might have been half the fun, but I feel like you could really do something with that in 2013. And I don't even like pointless movies.

nah man.. some movies they just need to leave alone..

special effect driven movies, yup.. as the special effects get better, go to town

movies that had good premises, but for whatever reason just werent quite right (think ocean's eleven)

The city isn't nearly as scummy enough to do that movie anymore haha. What we gonna have a gang full of skinny jeans fight the dudes with Tskirts.

Maybe a wall street banker gang vs some guys on bath salts doing the OG Harlem shake?

Hmmmmmm maybe. Maaaaaybe. Get Bay to direct?

I guess i'll post this here also. huge potential spoiler for post credit Iron Man 3

Potential IRON MAN 3 Post-Credits Description Surfaces
Further connecting the Marvel threequel with another Phase Two entry, recent Iron Man 3 spoilers detail the Deep Space Suit and reveal what the inevitable post-credits teaser will involve.

DCMarvelFreshman - 3/2/2013
Back in late January, tie-in Iron Man 3 toys first revealed a “Deep Space Suit” that, later, added legitimacy to a report, via Latino Review, which spoiled what the Marvel threequel’s inevitable post-credits teaser will entail. Linking the action thriller to the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, additional details have surfaced possibly revealing a plot element of the latter 2014 space epic.

According to Io9 and other sources, after the Chitauri attack in The Avengers especially, (Spoiler Warning) Tony Stark creates the “Space Suit” “using a unique new metal alloy that absorbs his ARC Reactor energy signature. Tony travels into the far reaches of space to find the source of a coded SOS he receives at the end of Iron Man 3. The SOS is from a masked Star-Lord, so Tony takes off to find him (noting that, with the space armor, he’s “ready this time”). Jarvis asks Tony where he’s going, replying, “I’ll be back.”

Considering it was previously reported that Tony Stark would also pop up during the Guardians of the Galaxy post-credits teaser, the above spoiler implies that Guardians will take place either before or concurrently with Iron Man 3 events on Marvel’s shared cinematic timeline. What happens in Guardians of the Galaxy that’ll prompt (Spoiler Warning) Star-Lord to ask for Iron Man’s help, while also leading up to the 2015 follow-up to The Avengers? Who knows! An Io9 user speculates that Thanos is the source of distress and Star-lord is warning Stark that the Mad Titan is coming to Earth; and this is where The Avengers sequel begins. Anyhow, for even more Iron Man 3 spoilers, head over to Io9! What do you think?

chill on bay you need someone to come and create an underworld. Billy Walsh would be a good fit.

^^^ They could always move the Warriors remake to LA. We still have plenty of gangs/crews out here. We got black gangs, Latino gangs, Asian gangs, skin/meth heads, Lakers fans. Lots of material for the movie.

Its decent for what it was. the action sequences were great, and the scene with the SWCC boat gets me pumped the **** up when they get that chain gun going.

7.62 is a bad muh fuh

The funny thing is, as crazy and mean as that movie was it is full of strange kinky looking gangs.

the costumes aren't "hard" or "hood"

I ain't seen that movie in 7 years so i kinda forgot how campy it is to a point. The main reason it doesn't seem like a good idea to me is things have changed to police state status after 9/11 so this idea of a city infested with gangs is just outa touch now days

^^^That was maybe the best celebrity interview I've seen in ages. Hilarious. Plus, I like Blue Moon too, so Mila and I must be soul mates.

I mean, it was never a showcase of realism in the first place. Suppose to be a dystopian New York.

I'm not even all that sure why I like it, or why I feel like a remake would be cool. But it would be.
