They're only above average because the average action movies suck now. Also after 6 movies the audience has gotten to know the characters.

I still don't think FF is worth the watch. Especially all the movies at this point.
Best post I've ever seen from youMuch better.
The difference is, I'm not bashing TS. I'm sure that it is very good for whom it's intended. I know that it was an early marvel for the animation films that followed. I don't mock, or knock the films, or anyone who likes them. I, simply, don't follow them or watch them over and over. That's all. My own preference.
Big difference between how I don't "enjoy" a film, vs how you trash a film (or franchise) you don't think is good.
I'm watching My Kid Could Paint that. The art world is nuts
Finally saw The Last Airbender last night. Don't know why it gets such a bad rep, it's easily in my top 3 this year. Can't wait for it on blu ray

How is this even possible?!?!?!?
Birdman is probably the most creative, best acted and best directed film I've seen in a long while. But for some reason, I was just sorely disconnected from it. I highly recommend it to everyone but (again) I'll be in the minority who couldn't really enjoy it.
Anyone else who has seen it, please share your thoughts...
Really couldn't have said it better myself. I'll probably try to catch it again soon, but I doubt I'll feel differentlyBut yeah, I took a break from NT, cuz you blink and you lose 2 hours to this place.
Gonna hit up Interstellar late...anyone seen yet? What's the word?
Yea. It's this year's Gravity imo. You almost have to ignore the script to love the film, but the cup runneth over with amazing distractions from it.
But I'm probably the wrong one to listen to.
I've always hated Michael Keaton, for no real good reason.
He was good in Beetlejuice...s'bout it.
What was great was watching the performances and the scope of the film grow with the themes.
But just like Gravity, Birdman is missing this soulfulness. There's something a little too basic and thin about it.
The artistry on display deserved more than "you've got a great ***" and jokes that didn't hit and a message Modern Family could've dropped.
I mean, it tried. It's the kinda movie that makes a movie addict's heart ache. All the 'almosts' in it. It's almost genius.
How can you have that moment with Emma and everything Ed Norton did and Naomi Watts disappearing into it and that moment with the critic and that last shot and the jokes that did hit and the revelation from the first shot and that level of impossible shooting style and NOT end up with genius?? The drums, damnit.
Honestly, though, all I could think through a lot of it was, what if...same everything, same gimmick...but have Darren Aronofsky direct it. Or on the other end...Michel Gondry?
Still, I wanna just look at the movie again.
I could see myself having it on in the background forever.
Just maybe don't waste too much grey matter on it.
