The law is what it is. The racial slurs and profanity have NEVER been allowed on NikeTalk.

We really just need to start are own community on yuku or all go elsewhere. I mean what sets NT apart from those other sites is us. Aint $#%$special about this place. The members are what make this site and they don't really give a @%$* about us. I guess we just gotta sit back and see whathappens

Ok, if you guys are just gonna complain and "hint" at links to sites in violation of our rules, this post has little purpose.

The truth of the matter is that MOST music forum users don't have any problem with these rules. There are just a handful of people who wanted to get awaywith as much as possible, and if you find you can't post here while abiding the existing rules that's your choice - you'll just have to findanother place to discuss music.

NikeTalk was created to offer a friendly, respectful community for our fellow sneaker fans of all backgroundsand experiences. That's been the mission from day 1. We provided people with an alternative to the unmoderated forums that were riddled with juvenileinsults, pornography, and outright racism. NT isn't deviating from its mission.

We offer a music forum for our members' convenience and enjoyment. Almost all of us love music and sneakers, in particular, have long been tied to hip hop- so it was a natural step for NikeTalk to create a music forum, but it has NOT always been a part of the site. While we expect our users will continue todiscuss music for as long as NikeTalk continues to operate, it's not essential for it to have its own forum - IF having a standalone forum leads people tofacilitate piracy, copyright violations, etc. I do NOT anticipate closing the music forum, but if a music forum is to exist on NikeTalk, it can ONLY do so ifits users comply with our community rules.

That's not your risk to take. Odds are on any given night you probably won't get busted for allowing kids to drink and smoke in yourhouse... but why on earth should you risk it for their sake?

Why should we even have to deal with the THREAT of legal reprisal because people won't pay $10 for a CD? I didn't write the law, but I'm not goingto put NikeTalk in any jeopardy because you happen to disagree with it. The odds of us suffering as a result could be 1:1,000,000 for all I care. It'sour assets on the line - not yours. If you want to take the risk, start up your own message board and have at it.

I would honestly like to know what Meth is trying to make this site. It's not fun anymore. There are way too many restrictions.
This is a flippin' sneaker message board, but for some reasons the Admins want to make it something it's not. This is calling a Janitor a Custodian to it's extent...
Why are you acting like we suddenly prevented you from cursing on NikeTalk?

That's the way it's been since December 10th, 1999. I don't care who you are, I don't care how long you've been here - cursing was NOTallowed when you joined, and those are the rules you agreed to follow when you created your account here.

It would make zero sense for us to prohibit vulgar language and slurs within posts, yet permit people to post videos or links to content containing profanity.


Copyright law is what it is. It's not something we control, but it's something that, as site operators, we're bound to respect. Besides, you knowfull well that 99% of the videos you're posting contain profanity and/or slurs anyway.

You can discuss music without transcribing the lyrics. You can discuss music without illegally rebroadcasting a music video. You can discuss music withoutreferencing piracy.

There are no NEW rules being imposed here. Enforcement was lagging in this forum and we're taking the necessary steps to improve it.

Partially edited slurs are NOT allowed. Do NOT link to videos or sites containing profanity.

You can't spam this forum with links to other forums that allow content in violation of our rules. Otherwise, what's stopping someone from starting apost and saying "check this post out on such and such forum," which just so happens to contain pirated content, pornography, whatever.


There's certain content we're NOT going to allow on NikeTalk - and you just have to accept those limitations. You don't go into a basketball gamewith the expectation that you'll be allowed to bring in handguns, let alone outside food/beverages. You don't go into a library with the expectationthat you'll be able to take your pants off, view pornographic websites on their computers, or start a freestyle competition in the middle of the"quiet reading" area.

The restrictions here are very clear and very simple. We don't want profanity. We don't want personal attacks or other disrespectful behavior, suchas racist, sexist, or homophobic remarks. We're not going to allow you to violate the law. It's a very, very easy game and there's really no goodreason why you can't discuss music under these conditions.

If you can understand and accept - if you haven't already - those conditions: great. We're glad to have you here. If you can't? Guess what: there are about 20 billion other websites on the Internet for you to choose from. NikeTalk was never meant to be all things to all people.
