Picking up a package from USPS?

Long story short, I ordered something last Friday and paid for 2 day shipping because I needed it by today. A week later it's still not here and I really do need it tonight. Tracking says it's at my post office, got there around 7 so it probably wont be delivered until tomorrow and I'll have no need for it then.

My question is, has anyone had any luck just going to the Post Office to pick up a package? It's there but hasn't gone through sorting so they probably haven't even opened the crates or whatever the package is in.

Once no one was home twice when they tried to deliver a package to me

I went to the post office and got it no problem

That's slightly different. But I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
I already called and the lady said that they wont look at it until tomorrow. I'm going down there to try to sweet talk them


Welp never mind. USPS website is at likes 4 hours slow, it's already on the truck for delivery
