Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

My friend told me he makes music for people who take the bus…. I’m like dog, don’t say that :wow:

Damn, this joint sounds like a Drake diss to me now . Drake wasnt lying when he said, "I know you got me on ya wall when yall cook up".

It doesn’t matter if it’s generating money or not

From what I see it gets into a pointless splitting of atoms if he never officially advertised or said “this is my song featuring 2Pac”

All of the things that lets you know its Pac are from the context of being a rap fan (Killuminati Thugs etc Snoop House of Blues) not actually him saying this is my song with Tupac

Maybe people think this is Mopreme or Afeni behind this which is why they want this to work lol

This is who controls Pac’s estate, Tom Whalley do the googles lol

That's who Afani hand picked

In 2016, Afeni Shakur passed away, and she named Tom Whalley, a former executive at Interscope, the executor of the Trust of Tupac's estate. Under Whalley's guidance, Tupac's estate has continued to release new material, merchandise, and collaborations, further expanding the late rapper's net worth

Excuse my ignorance. But can Pac’s wstate sue if Drake is not profiting of the diss track?

I havent seen it on any DSPs so far.
Yes you can sue for any reason
They simply want him to take the “Pac voice” off the song which is why they sent the letter to him first. Now if he’s truly not “profiting” from it then it shouldn’t be a issue to remove the voice 🤷🏽‍♂️

  why is this **** hard?

I am in no way a Drake fan and am a complete Kendrick stan, and I would have declared Drake the victor of this if he would have actually released a soul diss track. This is fantastic. It's like a reverse Chris Brown, like "oh, this guy can actually sing", though I don't think it could actually pull it off even as well as the person who did this version.

Tupac's estate has to do it, besides it being weird as ****

What if someone decides to do a whole album with AI Tupac. Hell, dust off the hologram to go with it and make a show out of it.

F that, do it to drake since he wants to get cute

Within a year youre going to get a whole tour of hologram legends and AI with Timbaland being the MC

Yea I’ve noticed through mutuals that people who ride with him heavy are also into the Joyner Lucases, hopsins, logics, etc….

Personally I like J Cole, but could never venture down the above mentioned artists. The way he showed his hand in the past few weeks is def a permanent stain in his public image. It doesn’t stop from making good work, but honestly I can’t hold him to when he said he was in his prime  then proceeds to revoke that track.

LMAO ain’t ever heard this

I was gonna say the same thing. I don't get that relation at all. Now people who listen to Kanye may listen to logic, joyner, Childish Gambino, Chance etc..but I dont see the Cole connection. Cole makes music for real ****** that want lyrical rap without it being lyrical miracle. Great story teller. Them other dudes are corny. Dont even get me started on Logic

Through my mutuals, otherwise not a lot of people I know really mess with Cole like that. Weird phenomena ahaha
I got some bros who don't mess with Cole at all as well, but he was always A1 to me from the first time i heard him on DJbooth back in the day. Cole is one of those dudes that was listenable day 1. I remember the first time I heard Kendrick I didn't really get him at first. The thing that hurts Cole is that he's almost too normal/chill and as an artist I feel like that hurts his creativity. But the FNL/Warm Up tapes had me thinking he was gonna be the next "one"
