What would you guys recommend?  Assuming the same price and size...

  • Westinghouse (or similar brand...but not one of those really shabby ones) LED
       OR
  • LG/Phillips/Sharp (or similar brands) LCD

I would always go with an LG or Samsung LCD over a Westinghouse LED

I have an LCD and an LED.

I like the sound quality from my LCD better.

LEDs are so thin that their speakers - especially their bass - is piss poor. But then I guess that's what external speakers are for...

This.

Never even heard of Westinghouse, Srs.

It would be even better if t's a Samsung LED.

For the same price? Def LED. I think LED is worth the (usual) extra cost over LCD.

LED backlighting >> fluoro backlighting (technical/visual advantages)

I agree 100%
I have a Samsung LED and a Westinghouse house LED the Samsung is superior by far but I've never had any problem with the Westinghouse.

LED definitely but a better one. If you can afford one with individual zones instead of edge LED then that makes a huge difference as well. I mean my ideal TV is the Sony hx929 right now. I have in on back order, but if it doesn't come in by Christmas I'm canceling and waiting for Sony's high end model next year.

LEDs consume less power, dissipate heat better and are typically thinner. With that said, save up a little more and get a more trusted brand like Samsung.
