STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

bro this is crazy to me. I'm in shock. Like..I knew him. this is crazy. All from the juice? What happened?

White substance was found apparently....

Dude had ****ing oil in his body goodness sake, he wasn't going to live a full life more than likely, still sad regardless.

RIP Rich Piana.

Shoulders and Legs today. For the first time in my life, I'm going to be taking BCAA's. I just never got around to trying it out, so I'll see if it helps me break this plateau.

Bcaa def helps with recovery... Atleast for me.

After those heavy days they help with the soreness and all that, it wont heal you 100% but youll be feeling better

And that's what I need... the soreness is starting to get a bit aggravating. When I first started lifting, I loved the feeling. Now, it's just getting on my nerves lol.

What soreness are you feeling now? What exercises? New stuff? Stuff you arent accustomed to?

I hardly ever feel soreness anymore. Only on like new exercises here and there.

There's more BCAAs in a turkey sandwich than a serving of BCAA supplements.

Further, I read somewhere that the amount of BCAAs in those supplements isn't nearly enough to provide the benefits of BCAAs.

That's why I never ventured into them. They look delicious though.

I need some help please.

On March 30 2015 I had knee surgery. Something happened where I could not put any weight on my left leg. Doctors said I had fluid and needed an emergency surgery. Turned out the fluid I had was infected.

Between 2015 and 2017, my life was a complete mess. I went from be able to do a whole bunch of activities (like running, jogging, walking etc) to barely able to walk a block before my knee went out.

May 2016 I was in a car accident. A car hit me on my passenger side and ended up throwing my knee into the driver door. Went to PT and saw a couple of doctors. One of the doctors was an orthopedic specialist and said he can help me out. But before he can help me, the case needed to be closed. Case finally closes in December 2017 and we begin to work on my knee.

March 30 2017 I have my second knee surgery. Doctor said it was a success. He ended up taking out what he calls "HOFFAS FAT PAD" and other miscellaneous items floating around my knee. These items were part of the reason my knee would lock and give out. I begin to recover and I noticed Im eating all kinds of crap while not able to move a lot. One week after my surgery, my wife and I decide to start being a healthy family. We begin cooking healthy, eating 6 times a day and control our portions.

That same week my PT begins. All is well until late June. My physical therapist wanted me to do some leg press on a machine. I do 100 lbs. and I think I did great. This happened on a Monday, Tuesday evening I couldnt put weight on my left leg again. Turns out, my joints released Fluid. 65 CCs of fluid

Doctor said I now have a staff infection and need to stop PT immediately. He also put me on two different antibiotics. Now Im back to walking with a crutch and limping.

Fast forward to August 25 (TODAY), Im able to walk without a limp but I still cannot run or walk for a long period of time. Since my second surgery, I ve lost nearly 60 pounds
Picture on the left was taken in July 2016, we were celebrating my wifes birthday. Picture on the left was taken in July 2017. Ironically I was wearing the same shirt (its now a beater) because I had gone to physical therapy.

ALL THIS WEIGHT WAS LOST JUST ON EATING HEALTHY. Very and I mean very minimal exercise was done.

The help I need from you experts is,
What kind of exercises can a guy like me (who cant do much cardio), do to tone up and continue losing weight?
I mainly want to lose this excess skin and tone it up.

What I cant do:
Push ups, planks, Run, squats, lunges, jumping, walk for a long time

What I can do:
Walk for about a mile (I try to this 4-5 times a week)
Anything upper body
Bicycle
Swimming

Any help is greatly appreciated.

They say swimming is better than running. Swimming sounds like the best thing. Im sure being in a warm pool also will feel good for your knee and joints. Hot tub/sauna as well if you have access.

Good luck man, i hope your knee gets better and youre pain free. Not just working out but everyday things. Also great job on the weight loss :pimp:

I would say just continue to do what you can. Being active, at all, will help you recover...which you seem to know. I wouldn't push it given the background. I know the temptation, but it's not worth it. And for a PT to start you out at 100lb leg press with your history seems a little reckless.... But great job man. It is so hard to convince people they can lose weight by just changing their eating habits :smokin

Wow man, your journey has had its ups and downs!! I went through almost exactly what you described, it sucks but you've put in mad work to get things right man! I would love to have you as a client to offer you some guidance but that's not possible, so my advice is this:

Keeeeeep up the great work with the healthy eating habits. Keeping the weight down is one of the biggest things that will help your knees out.

I can't give you any exercises without seeing you in person, but what you should do is see an expert. Seek out a specialist personal trainer that possibly has a background in Physical Therapy orrrr a physical therapist that has a background in exercise sports science/ Kinesiology. What you're looking for is someone that can prescribe you exercises based on the mechanics of YOUR body, not some cookie cutter "these work for everyone" type exercises.

Having someone assess your posture, mechanics/movement patterns could save you from future complications with your knees, and at the very least, give you a better idea of what NOT to be doing. You could have deviations in your movement patterns, you could be overcompensating with certain muscles that you never even thought about.

Anyways, long answer short, see an expert for a couple sessions. I would avoid getting random exercises from people who can't evaluate you in person. Good luck in your journey man. You're killing it so far it sounds like. That picture of the fluid gives me flashbacks. Doctor pulled three of those from my knee and I almost yacked

I appreciate the response. Funny you mentioned "Kinesiology". My current therapist is studying that at school. She's good at what she does but feel like Im doing repetitive workouts that dont work.

I know shes probably scared I might get hurt but I keep telling her "Lets do a little more". Right now I cant stand on my left leg (the bad one) on its own. Theres gotta be some kind of support elsewhere (holding on to someone or something etc.).

I tried using K-Tape to relieve some kind of pressure from the knee. The side effect of the tape was that it irritated my skin so they advised to stop it.

I will take your advice into strong consideration and look for a personal trainer who knows what they are doing. Last thing I need is to head back to disability. Thank you calibeebee calibeebee

RIP to rich. Controversial guy but to me he Was real with a lot of things. Doubt gear was the main cause but dude did look like the type to lines before gym sesh. Have y'all seen the size of a crackheads heart too? It's insane

Also haven't checked in. As per my new scale I'm already at 175. I've leaned out pretty well. Upper body is toned and I'm more vascular. Except for that bottom gut . Really don't wanna lose much more weight. Bulking starts end of September anyway

I just got back on my drop set wave, and it leads to supreme soreness for me.

Hhhmmm and I eat turkey every other day too. The shxt definitely tastes great though. I got the Arctic ice flavor, BPI brand. $18 on Amazon.

I heard arcitc was their best flavor. Only had their watermelon which was good.

I can barely walk right. Did 3 sets of 10, 3 plates per side on a pit shark type machine after hitting a few sets at 3 plates on real squats.

I'm gonna squat tomorrow too but I'll probably do light front squats or something.

R.I.P. Rich. Even though I never really watched his vids, the ones I did were pretty entertaining.
