The Official Jordan XXXI Thread

The problem is we're relying on YouTube dudes for in depth, accurate reviews. It's not like there's a performance shoe magazine/site with semi-pro athletes, doctors or collegiate/professional free lancers providing feedback. Like you'd need to have a center/guard/forward each provide their opinion and also hope they played in similar shoes so their comparisons are on an equal level.

How many hours did NW/KG play in the shoe? How many games did they play wi said shoe? What are the benchmarks they use? What are their skill levels?

All I saw was NW running around the court chucking shots up. With KG, the same high school dribbling/movement drills. I'll give NW some credit, he will discuss tech some times which I always find interesting. But that's the extent of my interest.

Internet 2.0 has given anyone a voice. Like someone said, buy the shoe from NDC, try it out for a week or two. Then make your decision.
Man, really what's the difference? Because a bunch of guys who couldn't hack it in the pros or someone who is a "professional" providing their opinion? Days of people caring about what a magazine or "real source" care about are long gone.

People just want opinions from people they relate to or seem authentic to them. At the end of the day, you're just getting an opinion regardless who it's from.

I think critical thinking is the most important thing here.  If you have the right mindset, it will cut through all of the BS.

I hope no one relies solely on reviewers online.  I use them as a reference, along with what other people on forums say.  Even then, shoes are like food.  You won't know if you like it until you try it for yourself, no matter what the restaurant reviews say.

It's also important to remember that reviewers get shoes for free a lot of the time and have relationships with people at the companies.  I don't care what they say, that changes what a person will say and not say about a shoe vs. someone who pays out of pocket like a regular customer.

The overriding issue here to me isn't reviewers vs. no reviewers or this guy vs. that guy.  To me, it's more about people not being satisfied and wanting just a little more, wanting something just a little better.  We spend too much time looking at reviews and not enough actually playing or working out.  The way the market is right now, it's not that hard to find a good shoe to play in and it's been that way for a long, long time now.

You walk into a store right now to pick a shoe and it's basically splitting hairs to me.

When are we getting the early release of the Bred 31s for those who signed up on Nike?

100% guess, but it will probably come the TUE/WED/THUR of the release. The nike+ app reserved items are usually 2-3 days before the release. After trying out the USA I'll def  be grabbing the BRED

Played in them for 2 and a half hours, although they feel comfortable and supportive but I couldn't wait to take them off. The edge of the white leather ankle collar digs into my achilles when I explode off my toes, run, and even on hard cuts. The leather doesn't give much since it wraps around your ankle when it's laced all the way up. One of those pillows against the achilles should cushion against the leather. Cutting the leather on the top like the illustration below or like how it is on the XI should work too. Taping up my ankle or wearing ankle brace are other options but I don't mess with either one.
I know it might go away after breaking them in but I don't want to beat them up as I'm going to return them (wanted to get the sizing down since I like the Banned colorway). After wearing them I will pass. I'll wait for the lows to see if it's the same setup. Maybe it won't rub my achilles with a lower ankle height.

Some of the pros:
-Great cushioning
-No heel slippage at all.
-Flyweave + Flywire contains your foot perfectly with no hot spots except on the achilles as mentioned
-Squeak test approved for you Sole Brothers lovers :x

Cons:
-Traction on dusty and semi dusty courts you'll need to wipe frequently. On hard cuts and curls, it'll slip a little bit due to edges being lower than the center of the foot. Translucent outsole and dust present is not good too.
-Ventilation is not good around the ankle because of the inner sleeve and leather. Socks were socked. Flyweave side was slightly damp.
-The red pillow on the ankle stains your socks and the side of the tongue that touches it is stained too.

Wide footer might want to half size up. I have semi wide feet and wearing thick socks I would want little more room for casual wear. Of course it's better to try them on yourself.

Thanks. I haven't had any issues with the heels or dye on socks. I played in Nike dri fit no-show socks. Whats your ht / wt?

You better say goodbye to women

Women who care that much that you wear something in current fashion you can straightly shoot them to the moon
A dude with personality does not need to follow the trends.
Wear what u like. If we all must follow trends then why are we stil wearing air Jordans while the hype beasts already moved to the nike hurache '92, superstars, cortez etc. ?

I got married earlier this year and wore my Black/Infrared 6s (2014 Retro) with my tux. Wore my shoes during the fitting, to get it adjusted properly. My wife was totally cool with it, as she hates those shiny patent leather shoes guys usually wear.

Now, I don't know about rolling up my jeans though, there has to be a better way

All of this! Wore Jordan 9 Barons as a groomsman for my brother. Had the suit tailored and it was perfect with the "45" showing. Jeans rolled up????....brah, just wear shorts lol. Personally, I don't get the joggers either.....or whatever they are called these days

Since it was a rented tux, the tailor only wanted to take it in as much as he thought looked nice. I probably would have gone a tad higher, and would have liked it more tight, but he was worried it would look awkward, and it ended up looking good in the end. The 3M flared up nice too in pictures as it was a night wedding. Not trying to go too far off topic here, but really, there are already 50 of 70 pages here about people dissing the XXXIs over and over, so can't be that bad to switch it up a bit.

Just got my USAs in today. Got stuck ordering a 10 from Nike and a 9.5 from FTL. I'll try them on in the morning to see which fits better.

These are pretty nice to me in person. They're really light and the materials are pretty nice. Hopefully I can get the Banned colorway has a wide release and isn't labeled as a QS so I can get them with military discount. I need all of the help I can get with JB coming for the pockets with everything they have.
