Thanks. Yeah, I am going to play with it and remove the cords. I shot a few up close and I think they came out better. But I wasn't a fan of her face. Here are a couple more from that day.

@Fongstarr Part of the issue was that you don't have a modifier on the light. The bigger the light source, the softer the shadow will be. The flash in comparison to the sneakers will be smaller and cause the harsh shadow. What you can try is get something like a posterboard and bounce the flash off of it, or if it is translucent enough then shoot through it. Since you already have a light stand that you're mounting the speedlight on you should pick up cheap umbrellas.
Good to know.. I'll definitely get that an a reflector finally. This is all shot in my kitchen but one day I guess I can make a studio out of all of it for whatever reason.
Actually I was in a friends loft/studio. He had a einstein e640 with this honeycomb cover.Thanks. Yeah, I am going to play with it and remove the cords. I shot a few up close and I think they came out better. But I wasn't a fan of her face. Here are a couple more from that day.

What is your setup? How many flashes do you got going on? I almost feel like I need one more flash to fill in the shadow on my shoes that I just posted. I had one flash on a tripod and the 2nd I had on more power as a fill to kill the shadows on the wall but still not strong enough.
Thanks ....Keko - Dope pics, reminds me of my vacation to Old San Juan
So you stayed at La Concha or just the condado area? La Perla is a nice restaurant - mad that I didn't take pictures at night - LOOKS GREAT!Yepp on the first day of vacation we jumped on the bus and tackled both, I forget which restaurant we went to but it was right across the street from La Concha, man that meal was AMAZING
