This mildly intersects my profession!

My first instinct was that this is efflorescence; basically additives used to make the plastic coming to the surface:

Efflorescence can occur on a wide variety of materials. You can find out why at | tascon.eu

Without knowing the exact formulation used in the part it would be hard to confirm this. But it is not uncommon.

From what I've seen on Reddit,

People are saying it's an issue with the plastic cover coat.

The heat from the PS5 is basically melting the coating of the plastic which turns it into that black stain.

Another L for PS5 :smh:


Gonna cop that dbrand darkplate 2.0, which also has a vent on the side for extra cooling.
 
Again, I dont know the specifics of what Sony chose to use on their parts. Looking at my PS5 it appears to be a thermoplastic polyethylene. It is a molded part that is know for its rigidity (if its high density PE) and quite hygienic. The part itself (again assuming typical make-up) would be able to withstand temperatures up to 120°C. I dont know why they would coat the part in anything; it would be another production step that I dont see a need for.

I certainly could be wrong but anything melting due to temperature would most likely shut the system down well before it got hot enough.

Definitely interesting to me, though. :lol: Kind of hope mine shows signs of this so I can get a closer look.

This is exactly was me also when GTA III released on PS2 back in October 2001. I had bought my PS2 back in April or March of 2001 with my on money from one of my first IT jobs paychecks back then. Heck making $20 a hour was legit better than average for 2001 cost of living in San Diego. Can't say the same now.
 
Yo whoever mentioned the sharp difficulty spike between regular enemies and boss battles in Tales of Arise wasnt joking. Its actually kinda ridiculous at some points. You can mop up pretty much every enemy on the map with ease but will damn near run through your whole item inventory and CP on one boss.
 
Yeah I remember after school going to the home's crib, getting the cheat codes off GamePro magazine for unlimited weapons and life then playing GTA :pimp:

Wouldn't even do missions, just commit crimes until we got 5 stars and the FBI showed up and see who could last the longest :lol:

Yeah I played on Moderate and was tempted to lower it to Normal. I will say there’s a skill you unlock that can damn near one shot bosses if you synthesize and craft etc. the right way.

It could be that your ps5 is getting hot due to lack of space for proper airflow

that is exactly why I never beat any of the GTA except gta5 because I tried to beat it and did lol

Yeah, it became more fun making up our own challenges.

Couldn't tell you anything about the stories for III and San Andreas

It was :lol: Had netzero for a sec (we only used that for homework and porn tbh) but I already had a free subscription with Gamepro. Was getting it for a long time going back to the 90s when I was really in to gaming.

Besides once we got the long *** cheat code we basically memorized it :lol:
 
Not feeling this new map on Apex. Idiots went and put animals that attack you in the biggest choke point in the middle of the map. You’re forced to give up your position to fight the animals and end up third partied.
 
Finished Bioshock Infinite and the Burial at Sea DLC's. Had a lot of fun playing all three games back to back to back.

It has me very excited for the next game. I wish we had more info or a tentative release date.
 
Started a repair request to get my PS5 sent in.

i get the green sceeen and shutdown when trying to go into rest mosde (probably 40% of the time).

figure ill get it fixed before my warranty runs out next week but I’m kicking myself for waiting until now. Been so hype for COD and Battlefield.If i didnt already preorder i would just get them on xbox, but too late
