im fortunate that I have friends and an uncle that work for the usps

so how does that help you with a misdelivered/stolen package?

This is just your carrier being lazy. If the package is delivered anywhere outside of someone answering the door, the person signing for it is suppose to show ID. Im a carrier for the post office.
