Op is not entirely wrong tho it's the same concept when dealing with police a lot of ppl have been brainwashed in to automatically calling the police to protect them when in reality it's your responsibility to protect yourself. Externalization of power.

You live in Los Angeles. How do you protect yourself? Your state has taken all the rights out of law abiding citizens and have given it all to the criminals. So if you shoot (if you can even own a gun) a perpetrator to protect yourself, more than likely you're the one going to prison. That's how California works.
