Wasn’t there a rumor he wasn’t played because of a games clause that would have the transfer cost more?

I forgot all about that. It wasn't as rumor..
In the document which Benfica always release after a transfer, they showed that Barcelona had paid 30.569.728 million euros for the Portuguese right-back. They also explained that for every 50 official games Semedo plays, Barcelona must pay an extra 5,094,955 euros, until he renews his contract for the first time.

This Barca regime gets fleeced & hood winked in the transfer market... they paid top dollar for Germio's Arthur & he's not coming until summer 2019. How did someone look at what gomes or Mina & think they were worth purchasing? gomes had a bad rep for being a lackadaisical player at Valencia at the time... I almost think Perez played bart on the gomes purchase faking like he was going to buy & forcing bart to buy him post election (or was that before the election)....

:nerd: Arteta got the job?!?!?! Santi gonna be on his staff?!??!

I honestly think Giroud gives you something though that you don't have if you are France. The big CF that is an aerial threat. And at the end of a game if you are searching for a goal we all know Giroud can be a super sub.

So from a tactical standpoint i can see why he was selected

Yea we all joke about giroud being world class and all that but he’s actually good at what he does. Knows how to play his game and help the team

What has he contributed in the sense of a winning team?!?!? Has anyone actually watched Les Bleus during the qualifying run & all the friendlies? They looked terrible with him in the line-up bcs they tried to play prem style "hoof it" football... There was no creativity in their play bcs thier attackers were just trying to whip the ball into him.

I get that didier likes playing 2 upfront, someone that's an aerial threat & the other forward being pacey... giroud just slows this team down & kills the creativity. Shoot, I would've even selected Ben Yedder over giroud...

Aaaaaaaand it looks like Barca losing another youngster. Poch wants Spurs to sign 18yr midfielder Riqui Puig whose contract runs out this summer. He was a key in the team that won the uefa youth league last month beating Chelsea. He completely bossed the midfield that game that led to a 3-nil victory in the final. This board has no idea what its doing... :smh:

I obviously wish it never happens, and it never will, but if I were in Arsenal’s FO I’d put a full court press on trying to get Kovacic

Giroud is a decent striker, but he's really just a French Andy Carroll right now in form currently.

I don’t buy that all the talented attackers France have in that squad are gonna somehow defer to giroud and stop playing like they would at club level. Sounds like an exaggeration on ur part to back ur dislike of giroud.

I definitely dislike giroud, but I'm not exaggerating. Have you even watched them play during the qualification period for this WC? They looked terrible when he was in the line-up. They played much better without him with the exception of 2 friendlies I can remember (within the last year). They play more open & freely without him. There too many poorly conceived opinions in here from dudes that haven't really watched many games. For me, this is the only sport I watch... Outside of Barca games, I dvr all the international games (friendlies & qualifiers) & watch almost all of them. France is one of the teams I watch consistently (along with Spain & Germany)...

no, no its not :lol its was stupid of him to even say it and give a public confirmation to corruption

I don't think Giroud kills creativity, he's actually a good passer in the box

These old dudes don't care at all. When they get caught for corruption or crimes, they just end up getting a slap on the wrist and serving 4-6 year bans from football like it's some huge punishment. For example, Italy's current football president got banned for calling black players/immigrants racial slurs before he got the position, so it shows how little anything they do matters :smh:

giroud shouldn't be playing till the end of the game and there's a bus inside the box
him actually starting in the world cup is laughable

I can see the complaints on Giroud killing the spacing and flow etc. But when its 1-1 in the quarterfinals and your players are gassed (except Kante obviously) some times the best way to chase a goal is to get the ball up to the CF or hope for a corner or set piece header goal. They ain't always pretty but they all count. I think if i were a manager i would like to have that option on my bench. Now i am not saying start him over the forwards they have currently.

Leave it to a fellow Baltimorean to make some sense... :pimp:

I still wouldn't have him on the squad though...

Edit - Everyone talking this yang about him... Lets see what Frenchie can do in tomorrow's FA Cup final...

Bayern have offered €60 mill for Leon Bailey but Leverkusen are waiting for a €100 mill offer... Rumor is Madrid are also strongly interested in him.

I’d love to have him but if we’re trying to assemble a squad that’ll also challenge for La Liga next season then I’m not sure how much of an impact he’ll have in that regard

Wonder if Real’s lineup today gives any indication for the XI in the CL final

Lmfao Neymar trained in Paris just one time recently and then returned to Brazil
