To the Chelsea fans in here, do you think Lukaku is a difference maker for Chelsea?

Take the money out if the equation. The money is nothing, Chelsea is a huge world class club, and money isn't an issue.

My question is, if he goes back to London, will he be a game changing piece to your offense?

I was having this convo with someone earlier and they just kept talking about the money, but not about what he will actually bring to the club.

Pogba costs more, but it's clear what he brings to United's midfield if/when he goes back to Manchester.

So money aside, is bringing him back to Chelsea worth it? Or would you rather take that same money and put it towards another forward?

Or just buy an entire new defense...

Which was my argument to my boy.

Statistically Lukaku did well, so with Hazard and Fabregas feeding him I don't see why he couldn't be just as successful back with Chelsea, in theory.

The thing is, Conte plans on going with a two striker approach. Costa and Lukaku are similar in terms of playing style, with Lukaku being the better athlete. I'm not really sure they compliment each other at all. Lukaku also left because he wanted to start. If he comes back, he'll get his time up top but he won't be the guaranteed starter like he wanted to be in the first place.

I would rather get another CB...can't be depending on Cahill and Terry day in and day out anymore. Or spend the money on Morata or Lacazette as their games don't clash with Costa's bruiser style. Both are capable of creating a shot on their own if need be, they are more technically advanced than Costa or Lukaku.

With the PL starting soon, I started up the PL fantasy league again, fantasy.premierleague.com I have the classic league called the NT Premier League, Code to join this league: 104732-34271 and the head-to-head league Code to join this league: 104732-34275

Costa/Batshuayi ain't enough. They still need a big striker like Lukaku or Morata, whom they were willing to overspend for.

If Costa leaves then they need to buy 2 strikers. But they definitely need a big striker to play off Bats and Costa (or whoever replaces Costa).

Chelsea apparently has a 15 mil bid going for Thiago Maia.

Never seen him play but I'm reading very good things....can function as a B2B midfielder or a CAM if need be, supposed to have superb passing ability and vision. Atletico Madrid have shown interest also. Gotta make it a goal to watch more Brazilian league games, these Santos players are always in demand.

There were times last year where Chelsea had zero offensive threat at the top. With Costa out of form at times last year Chelsea were just out of options. Also everyone played down. So just from a depth stand point he helps. Hazard, Cesc playing as they did two years ago will also help. Defense still remains the major question. Kante's work rate will help and more defenders but Chelsea needed more than just one player to put us back over the top.

Imo,I feel like Lukaku, however expensive he'll be, would flourish back at the Bridge. Dude has been putting up numbers on a squad without half the attacking threats that Chelsea have,he'd put up even better numbers playing with Hazard,Willian and Co. Him and Michy up top would be pretty interesting too watch

Difference maker? Absolutely yes

I'd love to have Lukaku back but it's just FFP concerns me. Well, I still don't know much about FFP. It's complicated to me. All I know is that we lost profit in 2015 but we managed to make up for our profit by heavily relying on player sales and loans last two years. I don't want to see Chelsea being forced to put up some players on sale. I like 95% of Chelsea players. If spending a lot of money on Lukaku doesn't affect FFP much, then GO FOR IT

I'll probably ignore record transfer fee. Lukaku's proven striker status, age and homegrown status are the reasons why I'd totally welcome him back

do you think BVB would accept 75 mil quid for Auba? cuz i would think he would be better suited for Conte then Lukaku.. I'm assuming chelsea have already pursued that option tho

Maybe next year, but I can't see them letting another instrumental player leaving this summer. He seems set of Madrid as well.

Agree

Lukaku would be cool to have back at Chelsea, but it doesn't solve all of our problems. We still need another central midfielder (I've had enough of Oscar), another CB and if Costa leaves another striker in addition to Lukaku.

Finally its official

He adds such a threat to our attack and counter its unreal. Pace, dribbling, the ability to take on defenders 1v1 and flair to our right side that's never existed. 20 years old, already called up to the German National Team and untapped potential. He's basically a bigger Raheem Sterling and people are already ousting Raheem but i believe they can honestly coexist on opposite wings.

I can see a 4-1-4-1 realistically or 3-5-2 against lower level teams.

Aguero
Sterling-Silva-KDB-Sane
Gundogan/Fernandinho
Kolarov-Kompany-Otamendi-Sagna

That would be my ideal starting XI if everyone was healthy.
