We can agree to disagree but he opened the doors for a generation of the "DO everything bigs" archetype.

While i think either would fall in the transformational category ie influence on the game, I think KG and Dirk both have strong cases. It just depends on if you think in today's game there is a stronger emphasis on the "Do Everything Bigs" archetype or The Stretch Bigs. IMHO, we've evolved to the point where it's a mashup of KG and Dirk tbh.

Sure his peak didn’t last that long but play style influenced a lot of people.

Outside of the small guards that are obviously influenced by AI, I remember KD and Porzingis saying they wanted to play like him too lol

(As I said in my initial post) I am fine with KG/DIrk in that slot. That is why I put Dirk as the 5th selection.

Either one makes sense. Flip of the Coin.

BUt to suggest KG isn't in that stratosphere isn't something I can agree with personally.

Break down C Webbs influence for me because I feel like most of these modern bigs (AD, Bam, KAT, Embiid, Wood, etc...) are obviously heavily influenced by KG

KG is younger than Webber. Webber was a do it all PF. Playmaking wizard at the elbow. Injuries cut his peak down but he definitely had everything offensively KG.

Yup he said as much on his ATS interview last AS break.

He said C-Webb and a couple other guys who didn't really pan out in the league were some of his biggest influences when he was younger

That’s fine, I’ll admit I don’t really remember much about the reaction when KG had just came into the league but I definitely experienced his growth and his prime on the twolves as a big part of my growth as a basketball fan. Reason I stayed my age was to give context.

I honestly want to put Steph over Iverson but that is unfair because Steph didn't start having influence on up and coming players until 2014-2015 so there hasn't been enough time to see dudes bombing from the logo sticks or it's just a trend for the moment.

All little guards, and there are many of them, basically pattern a good portion of their offensive game off AI so he has to get the nod...for now.

I feel like KG made it "cool" for a big to have guard skills growing up. I missed Webber's early years in the NBA compared to KG, so maybe I'm wrong.

Plus KG had the influence of HS players jumping to the league, he was the reason for the 1998 lockout.

One dark horse for the future.... James Harden. If we continue to see the growth of fishing for fouls as a core part of the scoring game to even greater extents ala what Trae is doing.

100027 So, you not being around for the START of KG's career creates a missing piece of the puzzle. You said you saw a lot of the rise but not being there from the beginning creates a blind-spot that is needed to fully understand the nuance of what he brought to the table.

You can disagree if you want but not being around for a section of a player's career and being able to experience the media/fan response to said player MATTERS.

I am not saying your opinion should be dismissed but there is a blind-spot.

As far as peers, The Damian Lillard Conundrum is the most fascinating to me. antidope always says that if Steph didn't exist, Dame would be getting the love as the guy who pulls from the logo. But if Steph didn't exist, would Dame even be attempting to pull from half court? Dame literally bit Steph's whole ******* flow, word for word, bar for bar.
