🎾 OFFICIAL AGASSI RETRO THREAD 🎾

I would have preferred different cw's of the suede pack. They should be releasing og colors or the the tournament editions before they go to suede. These shoes were always distinct with the lava design. Now Nike is just focusing on a solid midsole to stand out so the new hypebeasts will think they look like yeezy's.
But they just released the lava and black and clay and tart CWs not that long ago. Do they really need to be retroed AGAIN? If they were going to do OG colors they should do OG colors they haven't already retroed. I'll probably end up copping the blues. Nikeblog says that these are not limited edition and are intended for wide release.

Yea I was gonna say it looks like 3m also but only seems like it on first and third pair but not sure. I don't know why they went with orange for two shoes also. Mix it up but hopefully these are samples.

They were released 5 years ago. Nike has retroed the air dt max 3 times already so why not do a second of the og's? Besides suede makes no sense for an upper on these.

"It looks like the Air Tech Challenge II will return in style in 2014. After a couple of limited, special edition releases this year, the classic Agassi-associated model will see a wider launch next year, with several OG colorways (or at least variations of them) set to hit retail. And then there’s the Nike Air Tech Challenge II Suede Pack we preview today, a significant departure from the shoe’s usual leather, neon-accented style."

if the lavas, infareds pixels, and tart blues come out :hat
Will dobule up on the lavas again. I kick myself for passing on the tart blues @ outlet price :x :{

When you looked though the tennis mags back in the day sole swapping was pretty common back then, I thought because different soles performed better on different surfaces (clay, grass, etc). I imagine it was something along the lines of Andre calling up Nike and saying (hey, last years shoe was better on clay... give me a case of the new shoe with the old soles for the French Open next month).

In fact I believe Mac started wearing the trainers because he had an issue with the soles of a tennis model...

Yes, it's really no secret that they've been doing this for years... but the main difference IMO was more on the outsole-surface, rather than the outsole+midsole.  Grass needs the pimple-pattern, while clay needs the full-herringbone pattern... but the overall midsole was usually the same or similar.  Not sure about how Andre or the other players preferred the fit of one outsole to another, but the overall pattern (whether it be pimple or herringbone) has been the same over the years, it seems.

Not sure about Mac, but there was a story about him having foot problems back in the late 80's.  The guys at Nike brought him a pair of Air Trainer 1's and it instantly worked for him... hence the start of the Mac-AT1 association.

But what is up with that outsole!?  And that tongue-tag?  Subtle changes, but from what I'm seeing, the 08-retro was more true to the OG.

What's interesting is that the Wimbledon, US Open & suede versions all used the OG/08-retro outsole... while these, presumably '14-retro has a new outsole.  I wonder why they did that?

No doubt, we'll probably see Andre wear these in some exo next year?

'08 retro.

Keep in mind that these are catalogue pics... final product subject to change.

EDIT ~ Come to think of it... those look like GS's... hmmm.

Wow what did they do to the lavas?! I'm glad I have several of the 08 pairs. I really hope they don't plan on releasing those like that!

Don't even care about the changes.

If I can finally get my grails at retail then so be it.

Another superfacepalm .. but how naive to expect anything else , watch them release the IIIs and IVs as well , completely butchered... and if so, its sayonara Nike .

Blue suedes arent bad. I already have the Hot Lava and Tarts from last retro, all I want Nike to do is release the white/green/blue CW and I'd be happy

I'm actually surprised the 2014 pairs aren't Vac-Tech or Hyperfuse. :lol

This is the life Gentry got sneakerheads living these days :{

I really hope those are just samples.

How in the entire **** do you get it right in '08, but decide to half-*** it in '14?

If they get it right and the quality is decent, I'm definitely grabbing 2 pairs.  Did the same back in '08 and sold them both like a dummy.

BTW, expect the beasts to be all over the Lavas.  Thank the Yeezys.

I wouldn't have been so

 had they added a bunch of Hyperfuse, Tape and whatnot!

But yeah, it's just so bizarre...

Just saything though... the more I look at it, but more I think they're GS's... the shape is just all off, so GS does make sense.

Wouldn't be Nike if they didn't **** up a retro.

I agree, the shape of the sole definitely looks like a gs size but even that looks bad for a gs.
