D'Vontrey Richardson went in the 5th round of the MLB draft. So he's probably done as a FB player.

Good luck to the kid

Donovan Tate, UNC WR recruit was the 3rd pick in the draft

So he probably will never lace up his cleats for the Heels.

We were never in the same league but I played against Montana a half dozen times in 7v7 tournies when I was in high school. He's notthat nice, if his last name wasn't Montana he'd be competing for burn at a legit JC right now. They'retalking about he's got all the intangibles and his best football is in front of him but we'll see.

Now Will Smith's son, he's a baller. He's a real D1 talent from what I've seen.

Considering what Oregon has going for them it'd be a disappointment if they couldn't pull in a top-flite RB for this class. Zero depth at the position, coming off a top 10 finish, top 5 in the nation these last 2 years in rushing, an alum doing work in the NFL, AND southern california is loaded with RB's this year. What's the deal? edit* AND, I just remembered, those kids Clay and Grant both want to run track in college and, what do you know, UO is favored to win NCAA's next weekend. But the chances of ultimately signing either of those kids is slim, and I don't see anyone else on the radar who looks very interested. Kelly's rush attack is explosive with freaks like Stewart or Blount(or a solid RB like Johnson) but I'd be scared to see what it looked like with average talent taking handoffs.

I really like Clay, he's nice pick-up for OU. You guys will be fine, CA is stacked with RB this year.
My understanding is that he still have Oregon at the top of his list...

Grant's committed, but still looking

Ethan Grant gave Oregon his verbal commitment early in the process, but that has not stopped schools from recruiting and he is still looking. He camped at Tennessee last week and they are one of the schools still on his list. Get the latest on this Sunshine State back here.

"I am still committed to Oregon, but I am open at the same time," said Ethan Grant.
"Right now I have a top five and they are Oregon, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, and Tennessee in that order. I still like Oregon a lot, but I have to look at my other options too. I have over 20 offers, so I want to make sure of everything."

One school had their chance to shine last week and they did just that.

"The camp at Tennessee was a good experience and I liked the competition. They made the camp exciting and I really like the coaching staff at Tennessee. That helped them get into my top five."

The number two school on Grant's list will be getting a visit as will the school he lists at number four.

"I am going out to visit Ole Miss and then Mississippi State later in June and I think I am going to be visiting Minnesota soon too. I want to see what the coaches are like, how I feel on their campus, and things like that."

Over 20 schools have offered the 5-foot-9, 170 pound back out of Coconut Creek, Fla. - North Broward Prep and he has one school on top, but will that be the school he signs with in February?

"Oregon is on top, but nothing will be official until signing day," he said. "I am going to take some visits and see what all the schools have to offer before making that final decision."
I appreciate his honesty in the process. Of course as fans we always want these kids to go to the schools we cheer and root on, but this is their life in the balance. He's being open, honest, and true to himself. I prefer this as opposed to the saga that was Bryce Brown. Good for Ethan.

Yeah I guess I wouldn't call it a de-commitment. I don't think he's coming to UO though. If his offers remain the same then I thinkour chances increase but if he actually has a legit offer from UT and a couple other big time tradition laden schools step up then I don't see ithappening. It's just too hard for me to fathom a player of his caliber leaving the southeast for a school on the west coast that isn't UW, USC, UCLA orStanford(they can excell from coast to coast at times because of their academics.) I know Blount's from Florida and he was a big recruit but it seems likeJC guys are a unique case because they have limited time and thus focus more on the depth chart and system.

Kenny Wilkins committed to Michigan a couple of days ago. Kid is an alright DE but is more of a big athlete that they are going to mold into a position. Hatethat RR does that with the majority of his OLB/DE players. Not worried about Roh because that boy can play. Moreso about Kenny, Kinard, Jordan and LaLota.

I guess Pahokee is bringing a big group up for camp next week. Including Dunk and DJJ. No chance at either but it is nice to see them connected with The Muck.Plus, Booker T might be sending a group and heard that some Miami Northwestern cats might heads up too. If that happens, I couldn't care less who we pull, just so long as our school is on their coaches brains. Seems like SFla really like RichRod, Rod Smith and Cal Magee.
Sources: At least 21 Bama wins at stake
The NCAA will reveal later Thursday that the Alabama football program must vacate victories from 2005 through 2007 that included players who improperly obtained free textbooks for other students, the Birmingham News is reporting.

Alabama could be forced to vacate as many as 21 wins under the watch of former coach Mike Shula and current coach Nick Saban, sources at the university told ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach. Citing a source, the News reported the number of wins to be at least 10.

The Crimson Tide will not lose future scholarships, according to the News. The university also will be placed on probation for the second time in the past eight years and ordered to pay a fine, the newspaper reported.

The NCAA alleges the violations began at the start of the 2005 season; the university reported the violations after uncovering them during the '07 football season, when starting linemen Antoine Caldwell and Marlon Davis, running back Glen Coffee and defensive backs Chris Rogers and Marquis Johnson were suspended for four games.

Under NCAA rules, the players would be ruled ineligible from when they first received the "extra benefits" and would have been ineligible until they were suspended and reinstated.

It is not clear which additional sports programs at Alabama are affected. The NCAA's ruling will be announced in a 3 p.m. ET teleconference.

University officials aren't permitted to comment until the NCAA releases its findings. The investigation also included athletes in other sports that the university has not disclosed.

Alabama appeared before the Committee on Infractions on Feb. 20 to answer allegations of potentially major violations involving the improper disbursement of textbooks and "failure to adequately monitor" the textbook distribution process for student-athletes.

The violations occurred during the 2005-06 school year and into the fall of 2007. That left the university subject to potentially stiffer penalties as a repeat violator because the football program was placed on probation on Feb. 1, 2002.

The new case also reopens the five-year repeat violator window.

Saban replaced Shula as coach after the 2006 football season and suspended Caldwell, Coffee, Johnson, Rogers and Davis when the university uncovered the violations. The Tide was 5-2 at that point in the 2007 season and their only wins in the next six games came against Tennessee and Colorado in the Independence Bowl.

The sanctions come at a time when Alabama fans were celebrating the program's return to national prominence. Saban led the Tide to a 12-0 regular-season record and a No. 1 ranking last season, before the team lost to Florida in the Southeastern Conference championship game and to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.

The university uncovered the violations after an Alabama Supply Store employee realized that an athlete had more than $1,600 in charges for the fall semester of 2007 and alerted university officials. Athletes get free textbooks with their scholarship, but some were accused of getting additional textbooks for other students.

Alabama has changed some of its procedures, including requiring compliance officials to be present when student-athletes pick up their books.

The university has said none of the textbooks or materials were used for profit or to get items not related to academics, and that the athletes involved who still have eligibility remaining have had to pay restitution.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
